24.01.2022 We are close, so close to winning this. Below is the Statement from the Premier and I ask you to read it in the context of knowing we are ahead- a long way head of where we thought when the Roadmap was released some weeks ago. I understand that not every question is addressed and you’ll have questions which I’ll do my best to answer as soon as I have all details you require....Continue reading

24.01.2022 Good morning, I hope your Thursday is a good one. Yesterday we unveiled the safe and steady way forward for the state’s elective surgery lists, dental services, and allied health services. In metro Melbourne, elective surgery will increase to up to 75 per cent of usual activity when they move to the Second Step, from 28 September and will then increase to up to 85 per cent in the Third Step of the Roadmap to Reopening.... The state will move to 100 per cent of usual activity as we approach COVID Normal. The restriction on non-urgent dental care in metropolitan Melbourne will be removed from 28 September. This applies to both public and private sector dental providers. The types of services can resume include routine examinations, non-invasive restorative procedures like temporary fillings, simple extractions and preventive procedures. Subject to the Roadmap to Reopening, on 28 September current permitted workplace restrictions on allied health in metropolitan Melbourne will be eased to allow listed allied health professionals to see patients for face-to-face services for a range of treatments, such as to prevent a deterioration in functional independence. In the Last Step, most allied health services will be able to recommence with a COVIDSafe plan. And as we move to reopen, every measure will also be taken to ensure the safety of both staff and patients including screening, physical distancing, appropriate PPE as well as ensuring adequately spaced meal areas for staff.

23.01.2022 It was terrific to recently join The Reach Foundation at their Annual Breakfast - an excellent event albeit virtual. This years theme was ‘Witness Statement’, throughout the session guests were asked to reflect on how the world had changed for young people and what legacy they would like to leave behind for future generations. I am very grateful to have been part of the conversation. We know there has never been a more important time to work together to support young Victori...ans and their futures. Thank you to all who attended and were involved in making the breakfast a success. Can I particularly thank young Eve for sharing her Reach story and @TimBoneFood for whipping up some delicious banana and berry ricotta pancakes for breakfast from the comfort of his kitchen in Ballarat I hope to see you all again soon!

17.01.2022 Last week in my role as Parliamentary Secretary for Youth I met 40 enthusiastic young Melburnians at the online Festival of Learning led by YLab Global and Metropolitan Partnerships Young people from across the six metropolitan regions were invited to discuss and share ideas about mental health and employment, as well as how young people can better connect with each other and their communities. We know that the pandemic is having significant impacts on young people's employme...nt opportunities, housing security and mental health. Never has it been more important to listen to young people and learn from their experiences. Their voices are extremely important and I was blown away by their commitment to the future of our state. Thank you again for having me. I look forward to hearing more.

17.01.2022 We have so many wonderful local small businesses in our community, who have had to adapt and change over the course of this year like never before - and hopefully never again. In the coming weeks as restrictions ease and we start to carefully open up, our small businesses will need our support more than ever before. If you have the opportunity to support local please do - it will make all the difference. Recently my family tried something a little different, with 3429’s ‘Dis...trict @ Home’ pack. I’m not the best cook but with their house made curry paste, prepped vegies and tofu ready to go even I managed to make a brilliant meal! Thank you to all of our hard working local eateries who are doing wonderful things for our community with home deliveries, take home packs, brekky boxes and delicious sweets and treats. District 3429

17.01.2022 This is BIG, literally! What is going to deliver: - jobs during construction - more commuter, shopper and trader parking and... - a great asset for our community? Sunbury, meet your new car park (plans in video and comment section)! This was an election commitment and the plans are finally ready to see! I am thrilled to be able to share with you that the Andrews Labor Government along with Hume City Council will come together to deliver a brand new three tier, multilevel car park near Harris Scarfe, which will run along the train line. There will be over 500 spaces, with more than 300 of those dedicated to commuters, with the rest allocated to local shoppers, traders and businesses, who right now are doing it tough. Our brand new car park will feature the use of modern technology, accessible parking, better storage facilities for cyclists, and improved access for pedestrians - all incorporated into a sleek urban design. This multilevel car park replaces the original proposal of an additional deck on the Woolworths/Big W side. The original plan would not have benefited local shoppers, traders or businesses and had far less parking spaces. I know you’ve waited for this for a while now and I thank you for your patience. I had hoped to be able to share this news with you sooner, but to get the best outcome, long and intense negations were needed and I am thrilled to say that a fantastic outcome has been reached, one that not only benefits public transport users but our local shopping precinct as well. Construction will begin next year, creating more local jobs at a time when employment is vital. Now, lets get this done!

14.01.2022 Like so many events this year, the Sunbury Agricultural Show will be doing things differently with the show being held virtually. I’ve attended the show every year since being elected- and many times before that and I am sure you’ll agree it is always a great day out. Despite it not being held, there are a bunch of great free open activities for kids of all ages being held online with prizes for categories including 10 and under as well as 11 to 17.... The virtual show is a great opportunity for everyone in our community to show off their work and come together. I’d like to thank the organisers for putting this together and for everything you do to make our community so great. Please email [email protected] for more information.

13.01.2022 Today’s new case numbers are a testament to the hard work and sacrifice you have all made. With 14 new cases, this is the smallest increase in daily case numbers in three months. The 14 day average for Melbourne was 56.9 one week ago (Saturday 12 September), compared to 36.2 today.... Let’s stay the course, stay together and stay optimistic. We will get through this. #proudofourcommunity

09.01.2022 This pandemic has taught us many things but I’ve been amazed to see the strength of our community spirit. Community spirit like this in Gladstone Park where Fiona Crackwell has been drawing these incredible pictures in her driveway. It started with a simple quote, You’ve got this, keep going.... And from there we’ve seen Pepper Pig, Bluey, the Simpsons and many more. This is a true example of the amazing people we have in our community and the strength of our resolve. Yesterday I wrote to Fiona to say thank you on behalf of all of us. Thank you #staysafe

05.01.2022 Breaking Budget News The Bulla Bypass is a much needed project for our growing community and it’s why I have been advocating for it both in and out of Parliament, as well as calling on the Federal Government to assist with funding it. I am delighted that yesterday’s State Andrews Labor Government Budget provided $6.5 million to fund the Bulla Bypass Business Case. ... The business case will take into consideration the planning, economic, employment and social opportunities and challenges the project can bring and provide advice to the Government. 01.01.2022 And we are now in single figures- thank you to each and every one of you.

01.01.2022 $868 million to fix our broken mental health system. This has been the toughest year many of us have ever lived through and our mental health has been tested in every way. As we recover from this pandemic, we can’t lose sight of what matters most the health and wellbeing of our families, friends and communities.... That’s why this year’s Budget supports the recovery of our state and the fundamental rebuild of our mental health system - delivering new beds, more staff and dedicated early support for young Victorians. While the Royal Commission finishes its important work, we are getting on with fixing this broken system by investing in the much-needed foundation interim recommendations. Delivering more mental health beds, a state-wide roll out of post- suicide clinical supports, and a pathway for Victorians with lived experience to at the centre of our new system. The funding includes $492 million in funding to deliver 120 mental health beds in Geelong, Epping, Sunshine and Melbourne. This is an addition to the 24 Hospital in the Home beds announced earlier this year. An additional $18.9 million is provided for 35 acute treatments beds for public mental health patients in private health services. We are delivering on the interim report recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. It also includes $21.4 million was announced in the upcoming State Budget to support the statewide expansion of the Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) service, with individual, intensive and one-on-one support for Victorians as they rebuild their lives.
