25.01.2022 A beautiful moment amongst the ashes. This feels like forever ago, another tragedy ago. It was also really cold and misty in January. I remember first arriving at this location with these guys. Usually full of lush greenery, it was now black and bare as far as the eye can see. You could still feel the heat from the ground as it was a very recent fire trail. It was eerie and beautiful at the same time. Ill definitely remember for a long time to come and Im glad Jono and Katt will also have a story to tell their kids in the future.

25.01.2022 Dreamy couples in dreamy backlit situations.

25.01.2022 Kate is usually a composed person, so this was such a special moment to witness. As soon as her dad saw her in her dress for the first time, he immediately started crying and walked up to give her the biggest hug, and Kate also started crying as they tightly embraced. And once Kate started crying, we all started crying @ Driftwood Shed.

24.01.2022 Oh hey. Its been a while. I wanted to pop up on here to let yall know that Im still kicking and breathing. I took a pretty big break from work on the front end and only really popped on here every now and then while helping out all of the couples in the background with all the crazy thats all kicked us in the guts this year. Anyways hope yall are doing okay. Im keen to tackle the next few weeks and create some magic with all the couples for Spring Sessions.

24.01.2022 Right before I close my eyes, the only thing that’s on my mind, been dreamin’ that you feel it too, cause I know what it’s like to be loved by you. @ Kingscliff NSW

24.01.2022 Spring Sessions is launching tomorrow! If you dont know yet, they are discounted mini-couple sessions that I run every year. Theres very limited spots so keep an eye out, cause if ya snooze, you loose

23.01.2022 I never imagined that turning 30 would be so underwhelming yet so defining at the same time. Its just another day, another year, another decade, and yet, an important milestone as I truly and completely enter into adulthood. Im currently working, as I normally would do on a Monday. Yall know I celebrated a little early with my getaway last weekend with some of my closest friends. Im not a huge birthday guy, so instead of making it such a big deal, Ive learned to simply s...pend my day in mindfulness and gratitude. One big thing Im thankful for is that I get to work with so many incredible people. I have a unique job where I get invited into peoples most intimate and special days and get to really see and hear peoples stories. Not only that, but I get to travel, see and explore new places and adventure with so many of my clients while doing so. Im also already booked out for this year, which is BEYOND crazy, and I never thought Id be able to grow my business to this point. Im also going to be travelling the most I ever have for work, which is another new milestone for me. So, Im THANKFUL that I got to work hard at what I love doing and got to this point, but also even more thankful that I get to capture and create memories and legacies that last a lifetime for my couples to treasure and re-live their special moments by. Its truly a privilege and Im looking forward to growing as a creative, a businessman and a human being who longs to build authentic connections with all the couples that I get to work with. And thanks Joshua Mikhaiel Photography for taking this snap. Still takes me back to how glorious and breathtaking it was, sitting on top of this mountain for 30mins while the sun was setting, marvelling at the wonders. Really loved going on this trip with ya. See more

23.01.2022 Have y’all spotted a little squeeze who’s joined the team in some of my stories recently? Sadly won’t be able to come with me to weddings (or can he.. ) but a few clients who have an engagement or couple session with me from now on might be able to say hi and give him some pats if he tags along for the ride. And if you enjoy some exclusive doggo content, you can go check this boy out over at @goodboibro

21.01.2022 CREATIVE BUSINESS OWNERS! If youre feeling cooped up at home like me, and youre struggling to figure out how to use this time really well and work on your business, Ive put together some ideas that you can start implementing TODAY! Please share with anyone that you think this could also help, or share in your feed and spread the love! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md5-vDgXZyE

21.01.2022 I come across all of the emotions in my job. Tears of joy being one of the most prominent ones. As we were starting our session yesterday, I asked Beth to grab Brads arms and wrap him around her and just sit and enjoy the embrace. She quickly turned from smiling to shedding some tears saying, Its just really nice to enjoy this after a big weekend. I think a big part of what I do is try and create safe space for couples to be and to feel, no judgement and no shying away fr...om all the complexity of being human. I think its where all the beauty lies and I always feel privileged that I get to capture and share these moments. Sure, I could always focus on getting all the nice shots but my job will always be to capture what Im shown so couples can always look back on the real moments, and moments that feel like its them. This was a nice way to finish up a big weekend of shoots. @ Blue Mountains National Park

19.01.2022 These guys helped me kick off Spring Sessions week 2 in the Mountains yesterday! Joanne booked this as a surprise for her husband, Jan, to celebrate their 1 year and to have something fond to look back 2020 with. She however didnt realize Jan had an exam on this day, and so just before they arrived at the session, they stopped by a Westfield on their way up so that Jan could do his exam with WiFi access before making the session all worth it in the end, tho yeah? @ Blue Mountains National Park

18.01.2022 Its Friday, folks. Pop out them sparklers cause weekend means wedding time @ Driftwood Shed.

17.01.2022 Kiss me at sun down and lets call it a lifetime. @ Box Head Track

17.01.2022 Mini Family Sessions are live! There are very limited spots, so youre gonna wanna get in on these. Link below: http://joshjay.com.au/pricelist/minifamilysession/

16.01.2022 Its not usual that I want to share images that have a classic feel to them. As most of you know, I normally share images that are more dynamic, moody, emotional and non-traditional. But the thing about documenting moments is that, no matter what the image looks like aesthetically, it always takes you back to the emotions that you felt in that moment. I remember taking this particular moment at the end of the afternoon, as we were walking back to the car, I remember thinking to myself "man, I love how they are so full of joy, smiles and love, even as they just walk together." And I clicked the shutter for a few moments and caught these frames and thats literally the same feeling that jogs my memory when I look at these again.

16.01.2022 Big time Iso mood tho... Shoutout to all the doggos, whos very confused about why their parents are home all the time now, but aint mad about the constant attention. @ Alexandria, New South Wales

16.01.2022 Hey fam, Im only taking 5 more bookings for 2021! This year has been a big blur, but I have a feeling next year will be even more so. Im buckling up for a crazy ride, and I wanna take you with me to show and share with you a whole lot more than before. If youve wanted to get in touch to have me along for your special day, dont wait, do it now, cause I want to hear from you!

16.01.2022 Already thinking of Autumn (Fall) weddings in the Mountains again... @ Allview Escape, Blackheath, Blue Mountains

15.01.2022 What’s the most important thing to you when you look at a picture? Is it composition? Tones? Colours? Subject matter? Nothing wrong with answering any of the above. Personally, to me, it’s always been a feeling; the kind that you get when you hear a great story. You immediately become hungry for more, curious to find out the details. It’s a big reason why I don’t always post the obviously big, happy, bright and ‘hero’ images. I deliberately post and share images that makes y...ou curious and want to stare at an image for a while. Anyone can learn the right techniques and follow the guidelines for taking a great photo, but not everyone can tell a compelling story. I want to be an excellent story-teller not a technically well-skilled photographer. My goal for 2021 isn’t to focus on impressing people, it’s to work on helping change people’s perspective with what I do.

15.01.2022 Never thought Id say this by can we please bring hugs back? Like Im not even that hugg-y and I see couples hugging like this and Im like, dang, I could use some of that right now. Bloody Rona. Also, on a serious note, I loved watching how every time these guys embrace, it feels so sincere and meaningful. @ Sydney, Australia

14.01.2022 Q: What is your big takeaway point from this whole situation? Ive been thinking and talking about this to a few people, and my personal realisation is that connection is so ridiculously important and fundamental to our human existence, and we constantly take our relationships for granted. Being separated from everyone and also seeing the impact of not having the people that you want at your wedding to celebrate with has been a huge eye-opener for me.... My takeaway point is that I take all the people that I have a connection with for granted. Its so easy to assume, because you end up going to the same building for work, school, sport etc that youll always just have that relationship, whereas right now, we cant have that and we have to be very intentional about who we call and spend time with. It really makes me think about how much weve been mindlessly connected to everything and everyone, but at the same time, how much it distracted us from the really important things. TBH I feel less isolated now than before all of this began. All my calls are absolutely intentional - theyre scheduled, planned and followed through. The content of my conversation with people is longer, and more meaningful, because I am not relying on my regular encounters with them to know whats going on, every time I see an update from people on their social media, I pay attention to what theyre sharing, because I want to be able to properly keep up and not miss out. Im engaging WAY more with so many social media posts than before because I want to contribute and also keep feeling connected. Maybe its just me? Im wanting to keep focussing on the bigger picture here and make sure I learn something from this whole situation, and Id love to hear about what your realisation has been that youll takeaway (pun intended) from all of this. Dont be shy - I wanna hear it all, so comment below and contribute!

14.01.2022 These guys endured a crazy season of set backs and disappointments but they definitely kept their love on, dialed up to on their wedding day today.

08.01.2022 Wandering around open fields in Wollombi. I almost forgot how stressful this weekend was for all involved. This was the week everything started going into lockdown, and every day leading up to the weekend was a new restriction and changes to events. These guys had a hell of a week and I photographed a double wedding this weekend, on top of being away to shoot a collab project with another tourism company. I was also trying to grasp that a lot of things were going to change for me and everyone in my industry very drastically. Least to say, I look back at these photos with a hard smile, cause all I really remember was how hot it was and how much we persevered and focused on celebrating their marriage more than anything. Also, I miss hoping fences... just saying... @ Wollombi, New South Wales

08.01.2022 I hope we look back at these times and remember how much we were able to practice being present and being content with the small things that we have around us that we normally take for granted. Dont forget to give your main squeeze a big hug and take a deep breath and just be with them and connect!

08.01.2022 Couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of flying up to north of NSW to capture this epic proposal of that Josh had planned for his girlfriend, Jweles. This was 8 months in the making with endless phone calls, multiple location changes and a whole lot of unknowns to bring everything together. Josh wanted everything to be perfect. He told me, Jweles would want everything to be perfect, and she deserves it, so I want that for her. So many things were up in the air - we didn’...t know if the sunflowers would bloom by Dec, we didn’t know if it was gonna rain, Josh had to keep Jweles from finding out the whole time, not to mention I had to go under the radar while traveling up so Jweles wouldn’t catch onto what was happening. When the time came it was pretty much ‘whatever happens will happen’. We were stoked to find the sunflowers were in bloom and Josh was hella nervous about his speech, sweating his ass off under his suit while he was waiting for Jweles to arrive. Suffice to say, everything came together perfectly and I’m so glad I got to be part of something so special and witness such a beautiful moment. @ Kingscliff NSW

08.01.2022 Beautiful afternoon by one of my favorite places in the entire world. These guys absolutely turned their adventure game on and ran around rocky cliff sides with me. Couldnt even ask for a more fun shoot and awesome people to connect with if I tried. Looking forward to another round of vibes at their wedding next year

07.01.2022 Hot tip: always carry lip balm. Cause aint nobody wanna kiss them dry lips, you know what Im saying? (Insert imaginary lip balm emoji).

06.01.2022 Delivered this gallery this week. I have to commend these guys for how much they went through because of the pandemic. They definitely kept their love on all throughout the many tumultuous and uncertain changes and still managed to out on a special, intimate day and smile throughout it. Also, I loved seeing how they held each other - so much for me melted away when I saw them embrace. Guys, dont let bloody Rona get you down. Even if so many things get taken away, if you have each other and the rest of your lives ahead of you to create special memories together, than no matter what your wedding day looks like, itll be special and will MEAN SOMETHING. @ Sydney, Australia

06.01.2022 Happy 2021, everyone! I’m looking ahead to big things this year. I wanna go on bigger adventure and take even bigger risks than I ever have. Thanks for everyone who’s been coming on this journey with me. Every like, comment, share, enquiry, booking and just general support when I run into people who follow me is a genuine joy and an important fuel for me to keep growing and moving forward. So, thank you. I’m nearly at capacity and will be closing bookings for 2021 shortly, so... please reach out if you’re planning a wedding or an elopement! I want to list some of my goals out to you for this year so you can get excited with me and keep me accountable. - I wanna post less and post more thoughtfully and meaningfully. - I wanna be more bold and outspoken about what my values are and what I think needs to be the new norm. - I want to release educational material and mentor more so I can share my experience and lessons I’ve learned in my business and in the wedding industry in the past 10 years and help advance anyone who’s wanting to pursue this as a full time gig. - I want to grow my team and create meaningful jobs that seek potential in others and help them thrive in their passion and potential. - I want to bring WAY more value and connect with more of you than I have before. Don’t be shy, reach out and ask questions and let’s connect! - Lastly, I want to say I gave this 100% this year when I look back from 2022. even with all the reschedules and constant uncertainties that goes with planning a wedding and traveling for my job and make sure I put my clients on top and give them all I have to make sure they know they feel valued and leave them with precious legacies that they keep for a lifetime and beyond. I’m really excited to do this with you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all those that trust me and have been patient with me throughout last year! Let’s send it! Thanks to the legend @bradlspencer for taking this rare photo of me in the wild.

06.01.2022 These guys have been married for almost 7 years. We were talking about the ‘seven year itch’ while we were taking photos, but, all I could see was a seven year glow @ Bateau Bay, New South Wales

05.01.2022 ...And you need to know that Im hella obsessed with your face.

04.01.2022 Oh, to see without my eyes the first time that you kissed me. To feel your heartbeat through your hands, the first time it skipped a beat.

04.01.2022 Its not like we got big plans. Lets run around town holding hands.

04.01.2022 My mind sometimes forgets to remind me that youre a great idea. @ Longford, Tasmania

03.01.2022 Wanna know a hot tip? If you have a favourite photographer (or any vendor, really) in mind that you absolutely want to be part of your wedding day, here are a couple of ways that you can make sure that you get to work with them... Write down your top 3-5 priorities (must-haves) for your wedding day. It might be that you value being at a certain venue, or that you want x amount of guests to be there, or photography is one of the most important things to you to invest in.... Write them down in order of highest priority to low priority. Dont randomly make up a budget before you speak to them first. Theres this idea that certain things should cost a certain amount. Dont believe it, and dont listen to people when they tell you something or someone should cost x amount. Always reach out to your ideal person or company first and ask them what their price range or quote is for the kind of day youre wanting to have. Before you set your date officially, and while youre requesting a quote, ask them if they are available on the date (or dates) that you have on your mind that youre possibly thinking about. Once you hear back from them, weight it out with your priority list and your available dates. Whos available? How much do they cost? Now, factor these into setting your budget before you lock in a date or start reaching out to then book your vendors/venues.companies. If your vendor is incredible, experienced or particularly talented in what they do, they might be pricey (or they might be not!). But if you resonate with what they are offering and its part of your priority list, you can say its what we value most, so we are going to make it happen, with no guilt or remorse or FOMO. If you follow these steps, youll most likely get as many vendors/companies and venues that you want for your wedding day. Tag a bride-to-be below and let them know so they can apply this and get the most out of their wedding day with their top pick vendors and venues! @ Blue Mountains National Park See more

03.01.2022 First session for the year none other than at one of my favorite spots in my favorite weather conditions. Honestly, you guys... if it rains, just go with it. Making the most of it will actually make it more memorable. Trust your photographer and have fun, make fun memories and the photos will always turn out no matter how wet you get. @ Blue Mountains National Park

01.01.2022 I asked Hannah what her pet peeve about Charlie was. She said, he like just does stuff, gets things done, and its exhausting to even think about. Suffice to say, Charlie and I had a laugh about it cause Im more in line with him but Hannah loves to chill and take things easy and slow down. I love how different people can come together and perfectly complement each other. I love how, on paper it would seem like theyre not a match and yet can fit into each others bodies like a glove and create this new dynamic thats uniquely just them. Most of all, I love my job is to tell these stories and capture these seemingly personal and intimate moments to give to my couples go look back on. @ Blue Mountains National Park

01.01.2022 Fun story about this maternity session... it was also a surprise proposal! Seems like I’m doing a fair bit of these lately Simona and I are old friends. She booked me in for the session and told me she’d love to have some maternity shots and also a couple session with her and Billy. Billy than rung me up and told me he’s hijacking the session to exact his own secret plan to propose to her We briefly chatted about how I’d get Simona to be alone and look away while he qui...ckly changed and grabbed the ring mid-session. It was flawless and Simona’s reaction was just perfect! She kept saying OMG! really fast, over and over again. Probably like at least 30 timeswhile Billy was just kneeling there before just eventually gave up waiting and decided to walk over to her and just pop the ring on while she was processing and just as he reached her, she said Yes! OMG Yes! Then kept saying OMG! A few more times The maternity session, then became a proposal, which then became an engagement session Simona was half in shock for the rest of it and it couldn’t have been a more perfect afternoon. Super happy for their two new stages of life that’s about to hit them! Congrats, legends. @ Narrabeen, New South Wales, Australia

01.01.2022 A fathers bond with his son is powerful. Theres still a couple of spots left for mini-family sessions. Dont miss out! Link in bio.
