24.01.2022 If you had of asked me 7 months or so where I would have seen the hospitality industry today, I could never have imagined where it is now. The entire industry across the world has taken a shotgun blow to the chest. When I launched my hospitality book ironically titled - The Hospitality Survival Guide, it was based on one person who I worked with and lost everything. She inspired me to start writing my book so others like her wouldnt go through that same pain and fear. No...w hundreds of thousands of people world wide are feeling this. When news first broke out about this I felt utterly helpless. My book was about surviving and thriving in this industry and now there basically was no industry. Before coronavirus my book was in 7 countries, a finalist in the Australian Business Book Awards and endorsed by key hospitality experts across Aus. I could see it helping and supporting people but now all I see is pain, fear and doubt for a future they once thought was a possibility in this amazing industry. People have closed and wont reopen, some are pushing through barely and a select few are holding their own. This is affecting millions of people, not just owners, but the staff, the food and drink suppliers, cleaners and much much more. So much of peoples lives are tied to this industry. Make no mistake though, we will come out of this and be stronger than ever but it will take time. I want anyone who is reading this far to know that Im here to help this recovery in anyway I can. I will be teaming up with experts in the industry to bring this industry back on its feet and we will be in your corner every way we can. In the end I know that we will survive, I know we will thrive because that is how we always have, and always will, work in this unpredictable, beautiful industry that connects so many of us from around the world. 15.01.2022 I often have to remind myself not to put so much pressure on myself. I used to easily become obsessed with the outcome, that I forgot to enjoy the actual process. The COVID19 effect has reminded me of the simply things that I often overlooked on my personal journey. It has reminded me to slow down, breath the air, respect my body and simply enjoy each day on its own. It has reminded me of the anchors in my life, whats important and what needs attention. Im slowly taking the weight off my shoulders and as a result I now move much faster without even trying on the things that matter most.
