Jo’s Signs by Design is a small printing business located in Winston Hills that does work for small and large-scale events. Our work ranges from designing and printing products for weddings, christenings, birthdays and engagements to corporate and various fundraising events. Our job is to create beautiful and unique products with passion and creative flair. With new events weekly, no day in the office is ever the same! What we’re looking for: We are looking for a part-time print operator/design assistant who can work 3 days per week (Tues Thurs) at the studio in Winston Hills. We want someone with a passion for all things pretty and an eye for detail while still being able to maintain their cool in fast-paced environment. About the role: As a digital print operator (70% of the role) / graphic design (approx 30% of the role) assistant, you should be able to understand the processes between creating design files and following it through to the various stages of production, right until the finished product. You will be operating printing equipment (training provided), assisting in colour profiling as well as troubleshooting technical problems. You will provide customer service assistance in terms of answering phone calls and emails, advising printing processes and timelines, booking couriers and answering customer enquiries. The role will include completing on-site installations and other hands-on elements i.e. kneeling, lifting, cutting, trimming, weeding decals, loading media and using cutting blades, packaging goods etc. The role will also include, assisting in the development of a procedures manual for the day to day operation of the businesses core products and services. Required Skills: The successful applicant should be a hard-working and motivated individual with at least some general knowledge about graphic design and printing industry. The successful applicant should have the following skills: Good computer and technical knowledge A sound knowledge of Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop Knowledge of printing terminology e.g. CMYK, dpi etc. The ability to work independently Be able to problem solve when necessary Think creatively and be innovative Have a positive outlook and can-do attitude Be strong and fit Have excellent customer service Willingness to learn new skills Ability to work under pressure and keep a cool head Previous experience in marketing and events is beneficial but not necessary.
