25.01.2022 I wonder what lives under the rocks? The children ponder this as they explore different habitats around the centre.
25.01.2022 Thank you Heritage Dental Group for visiting. We can not wait until we are able to come back for our monthly check ups.
24.01.2022 We encourage children to be environmentally responsible and to care for the world around them . Many of the children take part in caring for our plants and watching them grow through care and love of their natural environment .
24.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators Day!!!! To our wonderful educators, and to our educators across Australia, we would like to take this day to recognise and say Thank You for all your efforts and the fantastic job you do every single day. Thank you for inspiring all our children to explore, grow and discover their love for learning, while setting them up for the best start to life.
24.01.2022 Throughout the year, our Pre-Kinder children have been learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The children actively pay their respects to the Yuggera Tribe through a daily acknowledgment to country. This acknowledgement has been implemented in the sand pit where the children can be a part of nature and understand the links between Aboriginal culture and the land.
22.01.2022 Today our Pre-Kinder children displayed an interest in sensory play with paint as they substituted their paint brushes for their hands! We immediately extended on their interests by providing them with an open exploration table. Here, they were free to mix colours and feel the cool sensation on the skin. Our Pre-Kinder children had great discussions about colours and how the paint felt on their hands. They also explored what they could do with their fingers!
22.01.2022 As the Kindy children have shown their interest in ironing, we brought in a real iron so that the children can experience how the iron worked. We talked about the steps needed to use the iron, such as preparing the ironing board, laying out the clothes, filling the water tank, adjusting the heat (hot, hotter and the hottest), then plugging in the iron. We gently moved the iron back and forth and we used the spray and the steam to help relax the wrinkles. The children's eyes sparkled when the steam was coming out! What a great real life experience!
22.01.2022 Check out what's happening at Journey Indooroopilly this month! The weather looks perfect for our Pyjama Day on Friday 17th - don't forget!

20.01.2022 Our Toddler children participated in a science experiment using different coloured water and then observing the colours blend together. Doing science experiments with our young children helps develop their resourcefulness, particularly their skills at goal-setting, planning, and problem-solving. It also nurtures intellectual curiosity, helping children understand the world around.
20.01.2022 Happy Father's Day from everyone here at Journey Early Learning Indooroopilly!
19.01.2022 It's been a BIG week in the Kindy room! We learnt all about patterns and experimented with our own ideas by making some yummy fruit kebabs. We also worked through some instructions on how to make a superhero puppet - including how to cut shapes out - and also practiced our letter writing by tracing some letters onto a letter mat!
18.01.2022 To celebrate National Science Week, we set up our STEM table so the children could explore how to build a bridge as an extension of our Police Project. We provided the pictures of the bridges and discussed why we need them and who uses them. The children worked together to build a bridge using different loose parts. They negotiated with each other how they could make it stronger and then stacked egg cartons neatly, taped them up with masking tape and placed a big wooden block underneath. Then they tested out the bridge by riding a car over it!
17.01.2022 The Pre-Kinder room continue to work alongside their families to ensure children are receiving home like experiences. Families continuously contribute to our program by providing weekly snaps and stories of their weekends. A few of these stories involved the children assisting their parents in washing the family car. So we extended on this experience by creating their very own car wash!
17.01.2022 Learning through play helps to enhance and reinforce children's knowledge, as they take play seriously! The Kinder children enjoyed the letters hopscotch so much that we created a numbers one as well! They were able to read the letters and numbers when they jumped through each shape.
16.01.2022 An ongoing focus for our Pre-Kinder children has been developing their independence and self-help skills. This week, they were given the opportunity to self-serve their morning tea! They displayed so much persistence as they focused on picking up pieces of fruit which challenged their fine motor skills. We are super proud of their efforts!
15.01.2022 This week in the nursery we used ice painting to help explore a cold hard texture as well as learn our colours! We really enjoyed being able to pick our very own colours. This helped us share our voices with our educators!
15.01.2022 Our Pre-Kinder children participated in dental week where they learnt about their oral health and hygiene. They loved reading Peppa Pig's book, Dentist Trip, and also got to use Peppa pig themed toothpaste! What a great way to encourage self-help skills and healthy hygiene practices.
15.01.2022 This week the Pre-Kinder room was transformed into a construction area. This allowed children to explore and investigate their abilities with real life tools and materials. Our children were able to challenge create new skills through dramatic role play.
14.01.2022 Here's our Toddler children developing their social skills, while reaching out for support from their friends.
13.01.2022 Here in the Nursery, we teach lifelong skills that help our children grow and build their self-independence. We made some yummy wholemeal pizzas to enjoy for Afternoon Tea. The children were able to pick their own toppings, choosing from a wide range of Wholesome Child ingredients. They placed their ingredients onto their pizzas as we talked about the taste and textures of the food. The children's favourite part was, of course, eating their yummy pizzas after they were cooked!
12.01.2022 This week, following the children's interest, we started our Police Project. We have learnt what counts as an emergency and also when and how to make emergency calls. The children also created an operation centre pretending they were police and then used an old map to examine and discuss where the bad guy could be hiding. Of course, they figured out the bad guy was hiding in the tunnel under the sandpit, so they dug!

09.01.2022 This week the Kindy children made spaghetti Bolognese. The children were excited and wanted to see what would happen when the water was boiling. They saw a lot of steam and the water was bubbling. They carefully put the spaghetti into the boiling water and observed how the spaghetti became soft. This was such a great experience for children to try something new and learn how things worked in a real life situation!

06.01.2022 Last week we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. The Pre-Kinder room participated in this event through developing their knowledge of Aboriginal culture. They demonstrated their respect for Indigenous culture through story time, dramatic role play with Miss Kims Indigenous baby doll, face painting with ochre and sensory play with clay.
06.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, the Nursery children have become interested in cooking and cooking utensils. To extend on this, we've been using different types of cooking utensils to create amazing artwork. Our babies have used dish cloths as a paintbrush, along with forks, spoons and potato mashers. Who would have thought some basic household items could be so fun to paint with!?
06.01.2022 Our Toddler children took so much pride in planting Bush Tucker on Plant a Tree Day. They are learning to take care of our world and the environment, as well as where our original bush tucker came from. All while developing their sense of belonging to our country.
05.01.2022 We love celebrating our birthdays with our friends! Sharing in the joy of birthday celebrations supports children to develop a positive self esteem.
04.01.2022 Giving the children the opportunity to explore real life materials has lead to their interest moving towards engaging in dramatic role play in a shopping centre scenario. To let the children explore this topic, we created a shopping centre where they could shop and exchanging money, building confidence in language development, as well as positive social interactions!

02.01.2022 This week, the children went fishing using some bamboo sticks! They had to pick up some pipes with fish drawn on them and were then encouraged to tell their educators what number was on their fish. What a fun way to learn our numbers! #JourneyEarlyLearningIndooroopilly #JELIndooroopillyKindyProgram #earlyyearsmathematics
01.01.2022 Literacy skills are an extremely important aspect of communication and are vital for successful learning across the curriculum. Literacy learning builds a childs confidence and disposition to use language in all its forms and the foundations for this are built in early childhood.
