23.01.2022 On the last day of 5 Days of Christmas Treats Wholesome Child said to me here’s an easy Christmas decoration hack! Use Christmas cookie cutters to cut out cheese, fruits and veggies to create themed sandwiches, pizzas, crackers and more!

23.01.2022 Heres Kirby & educator Sam making sand castles! Kirby approached Sam with a turtle mould, so they made the turtle together. Kirby was being ever so gentle with it, pulling small bits of sand off and investigating the texture. A little while later, Kirby gave Sam a big cheeky smile and squashed the sandcastle! They continued to enjoy this moment together, creating and smashing their sand castles.

22.01.2022 We are proud to announce we have created a partnership with Chidanpee Cultural Enterprises. Together we have started an ongoing program to introduce our children to the Indigenous culture. Throughout the year Eddie will be sharing his knowledge and culture with us! During our first session, Eddie played his didgeridoo teaching us about the different songs, animal noises and dances. He also taught Charlie how to play didgeridoo & Ellie how to play clapping sticks, have a listen

21.01.2022 Bunnings Easter Art Show Our children chose to decorate fence pickets, they painted & created master pieces which will be displayed at Bunnings Palmerston

20.01.2022 Our Orientation program with our partnership school Good Shepherd Lutheran College NT has kicked off for 2021! For our first visit we join in on their Harmony Day celebrations. They held an assembly which each class performed what Harmony Day meant to them. Our Preschoolers got up on stage and performed their Acknowledgement to Country We then joined Miss Kitely and her tranisiton class doing activities and shared morning tea

17.01.2022 Zoey’s inspire program has began with great success The 'Love of Literacy' program is designed to build & encourage children's love and engagement with reading. The program includes four different books planned for over eight weeks, and features reading, songs and experiences to build on their knowledge and fun of reading. Each group has differing experiences based on their age & needs and always includes lots of movement, sensory play and smiles from all the children. The Love of Literacy has so far been a great success and we are looking forward to the following of the program-held every Friday morning.

17.01.2022 National Tree Day As we do every year, we did our part for the community by planting a safe home for the fauna within our area We choose to plant a Silver Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia Argentea) to bring some colour & shade into our yard. The Preschool children wrote letters to the tree about how they would love and care for it, placing them in the tree hole before planting & watering the new addition to our yard with help from everyone across the centre

16.01.2022 The weather has warmed up, so out comes the water play! We like to mix it up and see what activity the children like best. So far bubbles are the most fun! The children love to see the bubbles float around and the water is so lovely and refreshing!

As a big family, we gathered for Christmas lunch, enjoying a Wholesome Child special menu; Roast Turkey & spuds, extra veg, along with Christmas tree broccoli, dinner rolls & gravy! We finishing off afternoon tea with sweet potato Santa hat brownies! ... What a way to finish the year! We wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

16.01.2022 As part of Fitness Friday's, the Toddler Two children have been very interested in exploring the different parts of the lake! The children have been spotting fish lately, so off they went to try and catch some!

15.01.2022 As educators, we are always coming together to reflect on the childrens environment, ensuring we are creating the best spaces for their learning and development. Recently, the Kindy room has undergone some changes in the way of our layout and the resources we provide to the children. Throughout this week, the children have been exploring their new environment and farthing their learning with the new supplies on offer. These new items can look like: abstract pieces such as our magnetic toys, home like toys which fill our home corner or new items that build the childrens responsibility, such as our real guitar and clapping sticks.

15.01.2022 Book Week To celebrate our love for reading, on Tuesday we dressed up as our favourite book character and brought along the book to share. We welcomed special visitors - a group of year 5 students from Good Shepherd Lutheran College NT! The visitors made our day as they read our books to us and commented on our fantastic costumes

13.01.2022 Easter Eggs-travaganza On Thursday afternoon our children & families gathered for our annual Easter celebration. The children created their own Easter bonnets at home and paraded them for everyone to see. The Easter bunny secretly placed eggs around our yard for us to find!

12.01.2022 Moon Day in the Kindy "Curiosity is the essence of our existence" - Gene Cernan. It all started with the children searching for the moon during the drop off routine. From there, the educators continued the discussion with the children about the moon, other planets and the space in between. ... Continuing this interest through June and then July, the children have learnt a lot about the things beyond our world such as what other planets look like, the rockets that took people to the moon and the space crafts that visit other planets to learn more about them. On the 20th, we celebrated Moon Day with a special afternoon tea and presentation of the first moon landing.

12.01.2022 As our toddlers have been attending Good Shepherd Lutheran College's Little Lambs Playgroup over the year, they were invited to their annual Christmas Party. The children engaged in Christmas activities, played with their playgroup peers, enjoyed a morning tea and had a special visit from Mrs Claus, who gave them all a gift! Thank you for having us Catherine, we hope you love your plant!

12.01.2022 We went on an excursion to the Territory Wildlife Park for National Science Week, to follow this years theme "Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans". We explored the dark nocturnal house to discover animals that are awake at night time whilst being super quiet so we didnt scare them We ventured to the billabong, where there was a scoop of pelicans feeding, and Isla spotted a turtle under the deck Lastly we visited the aquarium where we could see the under side of a stingray. We are excited to have further conversations with the children about this awesome learning experience

07.01.2022 Over the past month the Toddler Two room have been learning about different types of emotions. We have talked about what makes them sad and what makes them happy. Today we did a science experiment and thought about what colours might match some emotions. We decided yellow might mean happy, red may mean angry and blue could mean sad. Adding a little bit of bi-carb powder, food dye and vinegar into a tube with an emotion on the front, we saw each colour erupt over the faces!

06.01.2022 We took part in the #satelliteselfie On Tuesday a MAXAR satellite took images all of the Northern Territory. This event was hosted by National Science Week NT, who encouraged people to create art or a message in your backyard that could be seen in space! We created a masterpiece of our new Journey logo that were so proud of! Emily & Zoey outlined the big J and children from across the centre filled inside using spray bottles of paint. Were excited to see how our image will turn out.

06.01.2022 This week, to encourage sensory play, the children were given a pile of play-dough! They picked it, squished it between their fingers, rolled it on the table and some even tasted it! Of course, it was made from natural ingredients and we didnt allow them to eat too much.

03.01.2022 Sensory activities are a great way for children to explore and investigate, while also encouraging the development of fine motor skills. The Toddler One children enjoyed a messy afternoon with shaving cream and food colouring this week. As they added in the food colouring, the shaving cream become brighter and they then mixed them together to create new colours!

03.01.2022 Recently, in the Preschool room, the children furthered their creativity and fine motor skills in a fun and social way. This included using traditional drawing materials, such as textas and paper and then adding some interesting loose parts and cars to further their play. This encouraged many of the boys to create and draw as they made roads, bridges and car parks!

01.01.2022 Toddler One joined in with our partnership school, Good Shepherd Lutheran Colleges Little Lambs playgroup on Wednesday morning. The session was a sensory experience! There was play dough, shredded paper with hidden animals, coloured shaving cream, drawing with chalk on a massive black board, multiple puzzles, blocks and plenty of cars! We also had Hector the cat come and visit us! We will definitely be back soon! ... If anyone else would like to attend Little Lambs playgroup, its every Wednesday morning from 9am - 10.30am during school term.
