25.01.2022 You really only get one chance to make a first impression, so you need to get it right. This pretty garden gate, brickwork and lantern inspired lighting makes the perfect entranceway to what can only be imagined as an enchanting cottage garden beyond the brick wall. Dare to dream! 24.01.2022 A porch is a wonderful way to spend time outside in the elements with family and friends and another opportunity to decorate a new space. I hope today's image provides some inspiration for those of you attempting a porch project in the new year! Image Source: Pinterest - blog.thepinkpagoda.us

22.01.2022 Indoor cladding has a real country, rustic feel doesn't it? It's the type of material that should be used outside rather than inside a home and rightly so.....with many older traditional Australian homes being built using wood as an external cladding for so long. However, over the last few years, and thanks to the copious amounts of American renovation shows that grace our screens, internal cladding or shiplap (as it's also known) has become a popular choice when it comes to... interior wall coverings. Now, whilst it can add some real character to a wall or room, there are a couple of things you might want to think about before you go ahead and install some. Firstly, does this rustic material really suit my design style? I mean if you're attempting to create a glamourous, luxurious feel then probably best to avoid this type of panelling. And secondly, will this design feature date? Experts are already suggesting the ship has already sailed on shiplap (pun intended!) so really give it some thought prior to installation. In the right setting, like a country home or even one with a coastal influence, wall panelling will always look and feel right, just like today's image. 19.01.2022 People are often a little unsure about mixing and matching fabric patterns and for good reason. Patterns can be a little tricky to work with and when used too liberally, can overshadow the other important design elements in the room, like your flooring or window furnishings. One trick is to use prints in different scales, designs and colours to create a layered effect that works well together. For example, the bold check and red tartan, in today's post, work's well because the patterns really aren't too different and they vary in size. The floral cushions are then used to add some contrast that doesn't detract or confuse the overall effect. Using patterns can be fun and, really can create a unique look so don't be afraid to try using them in your next design project. Image Source: Pinterest - traditionalhome.com

18.01.2022 Love to have an outdoor space but don't think you have the room? Think again! Today's image perfectly highlights that even the smallest outdoor space can still be sophisticated. I personally think size doesn't matter, but styling always will! Happy Tuesday friends ... Image Source: Pinterest - mydesignchic.com

12.01.2022 Terracotta tiles really are the epitome of Spanish style don't you think? They give off an earthy, lived in summer type of feel to me and one that truly lends itself to thick linen drapes, indoor palms and rustic timber features. If you're inspired to try this style I suggest sticking to a colour palette inspired by the Mediterranean. Think in shades of greens, blues, whites and browns to really capture the atmosphere of this style. I particularly love the flow of the space... in today's image and the way the curved wall creates a soft frame for the eye to follow. Hermoso! Image Source: Pinterest - markdsikes.com

10.01.2022 When it comes to living beautifully, the fear factor is sneaky. He hides where you least expect him and appears when he’s most unwelcome. I’ve found that if you have goals and you haven’t reached them yet, the fear factor is probably in the room. He’s disguised as the fear of failure, fear of spending money, or fear of wasting time and energy. There are 3 books that made the most impact in helping me overcome these concerns and getting on with a life (and home) I love... I'm ...sharing all 3 in my latest blog post. Come take a look! https://journey-home.com.au/tips-beautiful-living-new-year/

10.01.2022 Recently, my Journey Home Club members and I have been talking about how to create their forever homes. Naturally, many people struggle with creating a colour palette, a furniture layout, or furnishing a room. But the ladies brought up several other struggles they were working through, too, and they weren’t what I expected. As we talked about these, I realised I’ve faced the same struggles over the last couple of years, too. Some I’ve triumphed over. Others are an ongoing bat...tle. At least one inspired me to take the lead and try something new. The 5 tips I have for you on our blog today all come from these conversations and discoveries... and they may surprise you as much as they surprised me. Head over to our blog to see them all. https://journey-home.com.au/tips-beautiful-living-new-year/

08.01.2022 Think you could live with a brick floor? I know its an unusual choice, but believe me....it's making a come back. Today's pic is a nod to French Country design which saw brick flooring as a real design feature. The look is defiantly a lived-in, rustic one and when paired with other earthy elements like natural textured fabrics, distressed woods and cast iron the effect is truly an enchanting one.... #Top Tip - The key with French Country is to maintain a fairly neutral palate however for those of you that love a little colour...why not add the traditional Toile de Jouy print to really capture the essence of this design style. 07.01.2022 Yellow and gold are great colours to use to really lift a space and are the perfect addition when paired with blacks and whites plus, yellow-ish tones can really enhance a space, creating a sense of warmth and fun when used as feature elements. Today's post uses yellow well to really enhance the darker features in the room, creating a space that feels contemporary yet unique. If you're using yellow in your next design project I would recommend using it sparingly to really m...aximise its full effect. Remember....a little really does go a long way. 04.01.2022 Today is Remembrance Day - a day dedicated to remembering the fallen. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning ... We will remember them. Lest we forget.

04.01.2022 Comparing tile options for your home? Or flooring? In addition to having time to process your design decisions, the Design Organiser also allows you to compare options and pricing. For example, you could print the Tile page 3 times for the 3 shops you’re intending to visit. Track your options on the sheet, and once you’re home again, you can easily compare cost and style. Or choose the best combination of tile selections for your space. Some of the Design Organiser pages hav...e simplified the process even further, such as reminding you to make grout selections for tiles or giving you pictures of tile layouts that you can easily circle and present to your builder. Having everything organised in one place also allows you to better make interior selections that feel more holistic and cohesive. You can quickly glance at all of the elements you’ve selected, instead of trying to remember which white you had selected from the thousands of options. If you haven't checked out our Design Organiser yet, it will be an invaluable resource in your build project. Head over to the Journey Home blog to read my latest post and get an exclusive peek at what's inside... https://journey-home.com.au/blog/ Psst...you can grab your own Design Organiser here https://journey-home.com.au/p/forever-home-build-organiser/
