09.01.2022 Big thanks to Aquatrails for hiring me as their first female river guide 15years ago....I was a little oblivious to the significance if the time, but inspired to find out I was thankfully not the last! International Womens Day - often reminds me of how far we have come in terms of gender equality just in my lifetime....most notably in the whitewater, outdoor ed and AFL circles I have moved in, but plenty more layers. I cannot begin to imagine the reality of my mothers and gra...ndmothers experience. Now that I've stopped trying to lift as many canoes and undo the tightest barrels to prove my worth, I treasure being able to bring a gentler, subtler side of perception and flow to the strength and resilience required in this wonderful whitewater world. And I'm super grateful for the fellas who happily respect what we all can bring to the experience. Also feeling proud to run an outdoor education company that was started with 2 other courageous females @tegancork @thehappywanderer_jl and hopefully continues to inspire many more adventurous ones to come! Thanks to all those that believed in us, respected us, gave us a chance and then stopped drawing that line in the sand anymore that required chances to be given.
