Under the Restaurant Award, if you’re an adult (20 and over) and get a casual job,... you must be paid at least $24.36 per hour. Some other entitlements include: being paid at least $29.24 per hour for working on the weekends your shifts being at least 2 hours (if your shift is less than this you must be paid for 2 hours) an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes if you work more than 5 hours. These rates are only for your first 3 months of experience in the industry. You get a higher wage rate if you already have experience or you’re doing duties beyond an introductory level.
