21.01.2022 What truly distinguishes and Autistic meltdown from what people may describe as "bad behaviour" is the regret that frequently follows after. During a meltdown, ...Autistic children and adults lose control of their executive functions as they enter into fight-or-flight mode. Once they calm down and realise what has happened, they are normally very distressed and remorseful. #nellefrances #nellefrancessensory #aspergerchild #autism #autismmeltdown #flightorfight

18.01.2022 LIVE YOUR WOUNDS "You have been wounded in many ways. The more you open yourself to being healed, the more you will discover how deep your wounds are. . . . The... great challenge is living your wounds through instead of thinking them through. It is better to cry than to worry, better to feel your wounds deeply than to understand them, better to let them enter into your silence than to talk about them. The choice you face constantly is whether you are taking your hurts to your head or to your heart. In your head you can analyze them, find their causes and consequences, and coin words to speak and write about them. But no final healing is likely to come from that source. You need to let your wounds go down to your heart. Then you can live through them and discover that they will not destroy you. Your heart is greater than your wounds." - Henri Nouwen, You Are the Beloved * TO PURCHASE "You Are the Beloved" Amazon USA: https://amzn.to/2YBEXIz Amazon Canada: https://amzn.to/2zLjAfy * Want more than a quote? 14.01.2022 THE LADDER OF ACCOUNTABILITY If one has a desire for success at all levels, including one’s mental health, one must first take 100% responsibility and accountab...ility for everything that one experiences, this includes the environment and one’s mental and physical well-being. Having control is not easy at the best of times, but it is possible regardless of how one may feel while in the clutches of the downs of mental illness. It is achievable, and it is something you can start to work on today! This ladder is a tool for assessing the current state of accountability in yourself and others. Just as ladders have 'rungs', accountability has levels. Individuals who cling to the bottom of the ladder tend to avoid accountability while those who climb the ladder embrace it. For many, the decision to climb the ladder is a function of the degree to which they feel in control. 07.01.2022 Love this visual, so true. Show your kids, better they learn this early... and yet it’s never too late to learn.

01.01.2022 It isn’t enough just to care about boys, or to be committed to helping them. We should translate those good intentions into visible signals that boys can readily understand as signs of acceptance and calm. ADAM COX
