25.01.2022 So glad to be in Gladstone with my family! Celebrated Grace's birthday.

23.01.2022 Old mate Barrie Hunter has donated this nice Percy Trezise painting to the Cairns Art Gallery, a very generous gift. Depicting the open forest of Quinkan Country, with the red sheaths of termite soil climbing the messmate trees - what Percy called "the painted forest" - with a black-backed butcher bird and black cockatoos.

21.01.2022 Jaid passed her driving test!

21.01.2022 Dad and I launched our first collaborative piece of artwork that we have EVER worked on together for Tourism Tropical North Queensland!! TTNQ launched their des...tination name Cairns & Great Barrier Reef to 300 members of the regions tourism and business community at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre. This commission art piece is titled: Ancient Stories of our Land Far North Queensland is home to some of the most beautiful and natural wonders of the world. As you walk this land and explore the Reef, Rainforest and Savannah/Outback let the earth open up and share with you the stories it holds. The dots and lines throughout represent our forebears, their energy and spirit that lives within us. They were the storytellers and knowledge lore keepers of the land. They taught us how to fire burn, recognise weather patterns and read the seas..... The full painting story is included if you would like to read more Picture includes: David and Jedess Hudson with Mark Olsen CEO of Tourism Tropical North Queensland.

20.01.2022 Crikey! In the sandstone country of the Laura basin, feral pigs root up wetlands and stream frontages, causing massive erosion, eat the eggs of turtles and freshwater crocs, and root up the traditional yam gardens.

19.01.2022 Cairns tourism businesses depend on international visitors and they're staying away! The end of Jobseeker will be disastrous for Cairns tourism. What has the Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch to say about that?

17.01.2022 This huge Moreton Bay Ash fell at the Bush Camp, narrowly missing one of the toilets. There's a lot of good timber there but it will have to be milled in situ.

16.01.2022 More rain please! Late March and it hasn't rained here for 10 days. Lush green grass everywhere but it'll be a dry year if we don't get another burst of the monsoon.

16.01.2022 Happy Granddad! Travel restrictions into the Cape York biosecurity zone have been eased, and Steve is happy to be home at Jowalbinna, and even happier to have Ella, Damo and Hunter up for the weekend.

14.01.2022 Morning sunlight on Quinkan Mountain.

13.01.2022 The Morrison Govt has a bill before Parliament to extend the Cashless Debit Card to all of Cape York, and to include all Age Pensioners. This is contrary to their commitment that Age Pensioners would not be affected. Of course, the Cashless Debit Card should not be imposed on anyone. It demeans people, makes their lives harder, and increases their cost of living.... Most people on the Cashless Debit Card are Mums with kids, they need more control over their own lives, not less!

11.01.2022 " I liked the strong title, though many of the lions were less kings and queens of the jungle than alcoholic, broke, stuck or resistant to having their words cut. (Looking at you, Xavier Herbert.) " Xavier was never alcoholic, but he was regularly broke or close to it. He did insist that no cuts be made to Poor Fellow My Country, and later admitted that he should have yielded to his editors advice. It's a hell of a big book!

10.01.2022 It's a bloody disgrace that these trees are being felled anywhere, let alone on the National Park. They take centuries to reach commercial size and will never be replaced. Exported to Asia for a bit of money, inexcusable greed. We are determined to resist any attempt to take ironwoods from our place.

07.01.2022 Branding cleanskins at Jowalbinna. Damo, Steve and Anton at the portable yards.

07.01.2022 Growing in sheltered sandstone gorges. I don't know its name!

05.01.2022 I'll be damned if the hypocritical moralising religious fundamentalist Liberal/National bastards in charge of our country are going to tell me how to live. More power to Linda Burney MP & Senator Rachel Siewert.

05.01.2022 "Stop scuffling you boys!" Some of my wallaby companions, Macropus agilis.

03.01.2022 Abelmoschus moschatus is a scrambling vine amongst the spear grass.

01.01.2022 Our wet season was just average, but nevertheless this huge breakaway cut across the Laura-Maytown road. We'll be asking Cook Shire to organize remedial work.

01.01.2022 Didn't stay down for long!
