19.01.2022 ARTMAKING CHALLENGE NO 1 Feeling a bit crazy with all this COVID, just about to pop your lid. Have a go. Scribble it away. You don't have to even know what you are feeling. Just give yourself some space, get into the zone and let it go. add music if u like. below - One I finished earlier. A1 piece of paper. Oil pastels. Use whatever you have. It does not have to be 'artistic' or pleasing, its about your experience as you do it. ... Love to see photos of your work -

16.01.2022 ENERGY LIFT I often use essential oils to aid relaxation, lift a low energy and so on; usually in oil burner or diffuser. Like everyone I found working from home or just living under COVID restrictions can really sap your spirit. It does take a bit of an effort but it is possible to shift your energy. When I was working from home I used my favorite upbeat music, a little exercise (yep its true there was stomping in the front office!) and essential oils to lift my energy levels and mood. It helped keep me focused and on track. One of my favorite mixtures at home is spearmint, peppermint, lemon and just 1 drop of Basil to aid concentration.

08.01.2022 ARTMAKING CHALLENGE 2 Now IMAGINE yourself as the superhero. Gift yourself with all the things u need to get through this crazy COVID time. All u need is old magazines (love the op-shop!) glue and paper. ... Get into the zone with or without music. Cut & paste pictures to make a portrait of u. Add drawing if u want. Below - One I did earlier in response to drawing in artmaking challenge No 1. I did this over a few days. It took much longer than scribbling. Again - love to see photos of what u do.
08.01.2022 Getting creative - inspired after a speaking with Bronwyn Razem - Gunditjmara master weaver. First weaving attempt using recycled found products - bailing twine, material scraps and old folding chair. I'm looking for more bailing twine if anyone has some laying around. I've got one more chair to do.
06.01.2022 Art therapy and neuroscience - this might be of interest to those people who want an evidence base for art therapy interventions- video through American Art Therapy Assoc. This follows up an interesting discussion I had last week about health professionals who question the validity and effectiveness of art therapy, even when clients testify to effectiveness in healing and recovery. Juliet King authored - Art Therapy, Trauma and Neuroscience (looks intersting!). And probably builds on the work done by art therapists since 1970s around Expressive Therapies Continuum which can also be aligned to neurobiology with mediums and senses activated, and creative processes -
05.01.2022 Back in December 2012 I went on a Big Tree adventure up on the edge Errinundra area with Kevin and friends. I found out yesterday that the big tree was burnt o...ut along with an even bigger tree in same area. I really had hoped it had survived the bushfires. Devastating. Must have been 100s - 1000s years old. Base was too big to get in photo, large as our lounge kitchen area at the time (approx 6 squares??) I was told the base is still standing, fire came up underneath burning through centre. I dont know how tall it was. See more

04.01.2022 Crafty idea using kitchen cupboard goodies. Making a pomander is easy. Mum taught me this when I was a kid. it's easy, relaxing and smells good. I was told it keeps moths out of clothes too. (Just don't put it against your clothes as cloves will stain). Your pomander will last for a few years. All you need is an orange, cloves and orrisroot (health food shop) or u can try arrowroot and cinnamon. Just pierce orange skin with toothpick or kebab stick, and stick cloves in all over orange. You can even try patterns if you are feeling really creative. Put cloves close together as cloves preserve orange. Over the next few weeks it will shrink & dry. To help the pomander dry evenly, put orange in bag/container with orrisroot powder and shake. Put finished pomander in bowl to display or hang in room or wardrobe. cheers Michelle

01.01.2022 Getting creative - not everything goes to plan! 'My crackpot' Made from air dry clay. The medium takes some getting used to and is very different from real clay. I tried re-wetting the clay so I could remake but it went mouldy and the pot went into the bin. It's been a long time since I have used clay, and remembered some key things - ie thin walls are no good! Lessons learnt!
