16.01.2022 Perspective: the way we look at or see things, including the way we approach life. Look at what you can do, as opposed to restricting yourself by focusing on what you cannot. Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path. Interacting with your horse is no different... a little progress each day adds up to big results.

16.01.2022 Life takes many twists and turns, and often you don’t know which way it is leading you. But that’s half the fun - the uncertainty! Be bold, set goals (dreams with dates), have fun, and know you can do it! Every Sunday I try to take time to plan out my upcoming week. What is happening. What I want to make happen. A meal plan. Exercise plan. Work plan. And a horsemanship plan. It allows me to become intentional about every interaction I have. Intention leads to focus. Focus leads to action. And that’s how you get results.

15.01.2022 I just love when my work is also my home Many people have had this opportunity throughout these new ‘Covid’ times, of course it’s not for everyone (or for every career), but for me I love the flexibility it brings... a lot of self-discipline comes in to play to avoid distractions around the home, but I feel that the benefits far outweigh the obstacles. A typical day for me is to wake up , exercise , feed the horses , shower , Herbalife shake for breakfast , household chores , social media with a cuppa , outside jobs on the property we manage , Herbalife shake or salad for lunch , finish outside jobs , paperwork , dinner , read my book and then bed . Like the horses, I thrive off routine and feel blessed to have been given this life and be able to share it with my best friend and our animals.

12.01.2022 People often ask me what style of bit I like to use on my horses... this can be quite a controversial topic so I am certainly not trying to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t use and if you are happy with how your horse is travelling in your current set up then by all means don’t change something that is working! Horses thrive off routine and consistency (much like many humans) so if you take one thing away from this, it would be to ‘keep it simple, allow time for the ...changes you make to work, and stay consistent with positive progress’. Over time I have transitioned all my horses, and the 20+ horses I used to work with at a trail riding/riding school, in to ‘Comfort Bits’. These specially designed snaffle style bits have been a godsend. Bridling issues, head tossing, playing with the bit, incorrect head carriage, leaning on the bit (I could go on) are all a thing of the past. They are curved to fit the mouth and have no ‘nut-cracker’ effect. Simply put - with no pinching of the tongue there is no pain and you’ll see an instant improvement! Plus the price is incredible. Let me know if you’d like some more information and I’ll put you in touch with the one and only distributor in Australia (Anthea Moran) - she is incredible to deal with, all you’ve got to do is tell her the height, type, age and main discipline of your horse and she will figure out the rest! Happy Riding

07.01.2022 What would your horse say if asked to give an honest opinion on the day to day conversation that happens between you two? After all, they are the silent partner in your conversation every time you enter their paddock, do ground work, and from the moment your bum touches the saddle! Horsemanship is all about the conversation between you and your horse, it needs to be clear and not overdone. You need to allow time for a response, and then use that response to further develop a...nd refine the conversation. I often see riders use contradictory aids, nagging the horse, banging their sides, pulling on their mouths and moving their bodies all over the place! Now to be fair, some of these riders are only learning so we need to give them some slack. But more often than not, the ones that have some experience complain of their horses being ‘unresponsive’ - and rightly so, their horses have switched off after all the nagging and nonsensical commands. The key is to use the least amount of movement/effort to get the biggest response. Horses work off pressure & release and will pick up on the smallest of commands once shown that you respect their input in to the conversation and acknowledge their response. Remember - it is all about the conversation!

04.01.2022 Thought it was about time that I introduced myself and the business... My name is Jess and horses are my passion. I want to provide a service that guarantees the safety of your horse at all times, with a reliable and caring individual at the helm. I’ve grown up with horses in my life one way or another. From a young age I was involved in the family business which incorporated riding lessons, trail rides and agistment, so my enthusiasm to work in the industry stemmed from the...re. After school I spent some time on a property in northern QLD and developed my skills of working with young horses. I then went on to do a Bachelor of Equine Science, specialising in breeding, training and nutrition. I believe that we are always learning and am truly blessed with the experiences I have been exposed to. Over the years I have also been involved in Pony Club, eventing, polocrosse, campdrafting, polo, and of course utilising my horses in our day-to-day lives. I hope to be able to share some knowledge via this page and offer my services in a range of areas. It is my belief that it comes down to both horse and rider preparation to truly succeed. Our services at a glance include: - Horse Transport - Saddle Fit - Buying Advice/Assistance - Hot tips & tricks - Rider Position & Lessons - Prydes Easifeed Advocate - Comfort Bit Promotor - Herbalife Nutrition Distributor See more
