25.01.2022 A bit late since the topic was "tonight" Blue Moon Red Moon Heres some pics of the Luna eclipse. Originally went out to a lake view of the city hoping for a combo view of the moon and cityscape. - Fail. Moon too far east and too late for the eclipse. BUT, got some interesting shots. Here a collection. After returning home I got tha shots I wanted. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//wednesday-7-blue-/

25.01.2022 Back on the Composite imagery course. Here's one I've been working on. I call it "African Dog watching the Blind Zebra". The Beast is actually old and blind in one eye, you can imagine the wild Dog thinking "move on old timer, you've earned your rest. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//african-dog-watch/

22.01.2022 Random Wednesday #9 Somewhere in Melbourne

22.01.2022 Here are couple of images of the famous totem pole rock structure. The area has two needles of rock jutting out of the sea flanked by cliffs on two sides cliffs. Amazing in their own right, but what makes these pinnacles really impressive is that intrepid climbing nut bags climb them. Our boat captain (Ben) explained that in some cases the really hard core guys swim to the base from a support vessel, and "free climb" to the top. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-2-totem-/

22.01.2022 A nice Surprise was waiting at Phillip Island today. Classic Car racing. The field had Chryslers, Fords and GMH vehicles in the race I caught through the fence. The Canon 5Dsr was great. The extra 30M pixels allowed some serious cropping to make the images since I only had 200mm lens at hand at the time. Anyhoo here are some pics to enjoy. Don't Forget to "like", comment etc..... https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//classic-car-racing

20.01.2022 Love this mask image At the races somewhere!! https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//random-wednesday-2/

20.01.2022 Sometime the colour of things can be seductive and can prevent us from seeing subtle beauty, movement grace and textures. Hers a collection of images in Black and White of the humble Iceberg Rose. Print Sales POA - click Here https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//03/27/iceberg-in-bw

19.01.2022 Hi Followers, I took my boat out fishing, but it was bit slow as the wind was up and the bay was quite choppy, so no brag reports (2 in the bag only, tasty Thai style curry - yum). I did take my camera out which was a boon. I ended up drifting through a yacht race in the afternoon as the sun set over Melbourne. 17.01.2022 Well guys, I mentioned that there were seals and Albatross spotted on the boat trip. Here is a collection. The albatross were very difficult to capture since there were strong winds, rough sea and these birds travel very quickly. So only 2 workable shots. The seals on the other hand were nicely sheltering on the lee side of an amazing rock outcrop. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-3-animals/

17.01.2022 RW#4 Number 4 is a random image from my pintrest bank. It links to an interesting article about recreating real live human emoticons. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//random-wednesday-/

16.01.2022 No story here - just an interesting shot of kite surfers off StKilda beach in Melbourne with industrial Newport in the background. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//kite-surfers-stkil

14.01.2022 Hi guys, Popped down to watch and shoot the old clubs hockey final. Here's a gallery of some of the highlights, fans, incidents and action. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//collegians-x-2017/

14.01.2022 Continuing on from the epic boat journey from Eagle Hawk Neck , down the Black Coast we ended up on Port Arthur. After lunch we were able to explore the historic penal settlement. A very peaceful place in winter since there were not many tourists there, BUT eerie when you actually consider what the place really was and what has happened here in the past, not restricted to 19th Century colonial events. 12.01.2022 Hi Guys Had a visit from some chilly bees who decided to Hive up / gather above my Post Box today. Not a huge group but fascinating all the same. For those wondering about the final series from Tasmania - being finalised soon. Sorry for the wait. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com///01/post-box-bees/

12.01.2022 Around Mona there are sculptures that predominate peoples attention. While waiting for a friend who was joining me to visit the exhibit I noticed the interesting plant life that grew in the gardens nearby. Small vibrant succulent type growths that acted like a ground cover. This image didn't really fit into any sequence so it gets it's own post. See if you can find the tiny insect. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-10-mona-2/

10.01.2022 HI Followers. Here's a single image to give you an idea of the weather. Windy, Boat tossing and this image represents the vast majority of the captures. The Pennicott Boats are brilliant at stability however conditions in the Southern Ocean are rarely favourable. The Image below is a teaser for the second part of the trip an explore around Port Arthur historic site. Enjoy - More awesome seascapes to come. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com/2017//18/tasmania-1/

09.01.2022 Here is the BIG STUFF. 300 foot cliffs towering over the sea, outcrops, caves. First, the boat. Click here to see the type of craft were were on. 40 seats and very stable. Below are pics of our captain Ben and the shot down the boat showing how close we got to the base of these cliff faces. We were watching seals here. 08.01.2022 During My time in Hobart I took a very windy trip to the art gallery - Mona. I was almost blown off the upper foredeck while enjoying the scenery. My baggy ski jacket acted like a wind sock and I literally slid across the deck on a particularly strong gust. Luckily when the MR-1 Cat passed the biggest Employer in Hobart, the Nyrstar Zinc Smelter, I there was reprieve in the wind and I got some nice industrial images, I have processed them to give them a retro feel in black and white. it's grubby, rusty looing place in colour and the BW processing really cleans it up and emphasises the complexity of the construction. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//08/tasmania-9-mon/

08.01.2022 As I mentioned in my previous post there were sculptures around the entrance. One impressive one is the Dump truck on a trailer, made from a lattice of rusty steel and t has a Gothic/Steam Punk styling to it.. There are many snaps of this on the web so I thought I'd make some artistic images from the amazing textures and patterns that are found when you take a closer look. Hope you Like and Enjoy. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-11-mona-3/

08.01.2022 Hi guys, A few weeks ago I went for a surf with a buddy Nick to a place on Phillip Island here in Victoria, Australia. Good swell, right wind, all was going well until 5 waves in - Broke my leg rope ("f" words a lot!!!), However I did bring a camera, so spent an hour or so capturing the action. 07.01.2022 Hi, For the guys on Facebook you will already know I've been in Tasmania. Hobart to be specific. Long Story - Short I took a short day tour to the Tasman Islands. Tough conditions. Winter in Tassie is cold and REALLY REALLY Windy. Luckily we only had 30 knot winds to deal with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully from a favourable direction. Anyway rocking around in a boat, winds and Bright Sunlight made for some challenging photography conditions. [ 41 more words ] https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//trip-to-tasmania-/

06.01.2022 The Aurora Australis This ship is a P&O Icebreaker that Australia uses to access the Antarctic Region. The colour is a vibrant Orange that would be a great advantage in the blizzards in Antarctica and a welcome site to the bases when she come in to view. Not particularly large but impressive when you see her in the full sun against a blue sky. Enjoy the Weekend Please comment, like share etc...... https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com///aurora-australis/

06.01.2022 Sorry for the wait on this collection. but here it is. The waterfront in Hobart is fantastic. There are a collection of yachts, ferries, The Aurora Australis, longboats and a great number of cafes, and restaurants in the area. and on Saturday there is the Salamanca Market stalls. So much can be overwhelming with information for the senses, and you can miss the detail. Hopefully in this little collection I can illustrate what I mean. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-7-hobart/

06.01.2022 Hi guys, Sorry for the delay, Christmas and New Year got in the way. Back again this week with another random Wednesday post 2 images this time, taken on the same beach in different locations. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//random-wednesday-6/

05.01.2022 Started a boat tour in Tassie. It began like this. Good trip , pics to come. Stay tuned

04.01.2022 Slight segue from the sea and landscapes. after the boat trip we went to Port Arthur to explore. I took a shot of one of the cell blocks and couldn't decide on black and white, or a grungy, street-style finish to it. So - thought I'd run a poll. You tell me which you think is better. More of Port Arthur to come. Feel free to like, comment, follow or share. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//tasmania-4-segue-/

04.01.2022 Hi Followers, The changing season at this time of the year bring lovely warm and colourful foliage and light to the streets. Blues seem more vibrant against the orange, red and amber leaf colouration. there is plenty of that in my neighbourhood. I was inspired by a wall of reddening Ivy with pink and purple hues and set off to shoot it. [ 105 more words ] https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//autumn-colour-and/

02.01.2022 Thought I'd take some shots of Candy. Should make some nice wall art. Feel free to comment, like and Share. https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com/2017/05/16/mms/

02.01.2022 This is a repost of a random image - still rings true. Jeff Bridges is a Legend If you thought your selfies were cool , Well Take a look at this guy, A legend in the movies has been doing it since before many of you were born Suck It Up. Cool is earned over a long time You can NOT beat the Big Lebowski https://jrayphotography1.wordpress.com//random-wednesday-3/

02.01.2022 An Inspiration for me A long time ago I encountered a variety of compelling and exciting images in galleries. Salvador Dali at the Tate in London was one artist, MC Esher another, but as far as photography there was Jerry Uelsman. A pioneer in the photography world who developed the crassly labelled "photo montage" style, done completely in the darkroom using multiple negatives to produce a single print.
