24.01.2022 Saved the head. Sculptures finished and clay packed into bags and armatures cut up. Work is now finished and the studio floor is cleaned of plaster and I can work again. 17.01.2022 If you missed this year’s @brightonjetty.sculptures let me tell you a little bit about my sculpture that won first prize for the indoor sculpture awards! This is a piece I am very proud of because it sheds light on a very important issue. A devastating amount of people have lost their lives from drowning in Australian waters over the last few years. Sadly, this number continues to grow. I am very passionate about this issue because I, myself, love swimming. I like to swim t...o keep myself healthy and to aid with my sciatic pain. I know how relaxing swimming is. When I have trouble sleeping, I just picture myself swimming at some of my favourite beaches like #snugbeach in Tasmania . Australia is home to many of the world’s most beautiful beaches. People come from all around the world to swim at beaches like Bondi but are sadly unaware of the dangers the waters can pose. My sculpture titled Marta watched her new friends in the waves and wanted to join them too is a sculpture with a serious message about water safety for new Australians. Marta is apprehensive about whether she can reach her friends. Her concern shows on her face while she grips her floaty tightly. Thanks so much to @brightonjetty.sculptures for awarding me this honour and giving me the opportunity to share my passion for Australian water safety and this important message. 08.01.2022 The Vietnamese Boatpeople Monument was unveiled last Sunday. The bronze figures of the Vietnamese boy and girl were sculpted by me during the Febuary-April lockdown. Lovely to see them now in bronze on the riverbank in Adelaide.
