22.01.2022 I'm all about a relaxed, chilled atmosphere. How I run my business model is quoted by project instead of an hourly rate. We could record for a day, we could record for three - it'll cost you the same. I find this takes the pressure out of the recording process and people aren't stressing and watching the clock, thus producing a better result. With all my clients I offer a one hour, obligation free consult to discuss your project. Not only is this valuable time to generate an... idea on the price and time frame, but imperative to building rapport and establishing relationships. Although the final product is important; the communication, experience and enjoyment of the process is paramount. 22.01.2022 Dug this one from the vault. This was a sound design project from uni and all we were given was the video. We had free reign to do what we wanted sound wise. This piece has approximately 40 audio tracks; from the music bed, to the 'sounds' of the visual elements (most of which are layered with multiple sounds). All of which were recorded on location, in my lounge room or and a small few from media sources. This is definitely a service I can provide for businesses wanting to create stand out content for their social media platforms or an advert for radio or TV.

16.01.2022 Trialing a new studio assistant. Not sure if it's going to work out as all he likes to do is play with the drumsticks, bang on the desk and nap all day. But in all seriousness; I enjoy teaching. I enjoy sharing production knowledge with my clients if interest is shown. I've had positive feedback with this, I'm now looking at doing mini production workshops/masterclasses.

11.01.2022 I use an electric kit in my studio, the versatility and possibilities of MIDI drums are endless. Don't get me wrong, I love live drums but there are many factors involved when recording them. You need an appropriate sized space where sound isnt bouncing off the walls, you also need time and patience setting up mics, tuning drums, multipltakes etc. With an electric kit these are tedious factors both myself and clients don't need to worry about during our sessions. There can be a stigma around MIDI drums where people think its always programmed on the computer and quite "robotic" this is not the case with the kit; you play your part and we get the take down with every nuance of your performance translates across, it's just the specific sounds we can change afterwards

07.01.2022 COMPRESSORS! Ooo boy! I'm a sucker for a nice compressor, and I have got quite the arsenal in my list. These are a few of my favourites at the moment (well...all the time actually) - Heaps of character, tons of punch, and just balls to the wall attitude! Whether it be clamping down on guitars, rounding off a bass, pushing a vocal right in your face or burying the needle on some drums; there's numerous old faithfuls I can turn to.

05.01.2022 @marrowlaneband back for round 2! This one's a cracker!

04.01.2022 *De-essing* As of the past few months I've taken more of a manual automation approach to sibilance and those pesky plosives. I found at times throwing a "set and forget" de-esser plugin on a vocal could work for that "S" is the verse, but not the chorus. This is my work around. Takes longer and can be more tedious than dialing in parameters on a plugin, but at least I know that every "S, T, F, K, B, D, P" will be dealt with individually.
