24.01.2022 The misconception of our Facility sometimes is that we only train Athletes for their sport. This is incorrect. We have a huge variety of Members who train at JT Performance from beginners to advanced. Many play sport, many don’t. Over the last 6 months we’ve had two Members in particular, who have achieved amazing results and transformations! (neither play sport). The first is James Blight James has recently achieved one of his goals of losing 20kg! ... As well as massively improving both his strength and his aerobic capacity! James came in having participated in some aerobic training in the past but had little experience with strength training. Having once been very fit and active, he was determined to get back to where he used to be with his fitness as well as getting stronger than he had ever been. His consistency and adherence to his training as well as making some lifestyle changes has allowed him to achieve some incredible results! Losing weight has been great but the best thing has been having access to expertise and advice with high quality coaching that’s enabled me to train smarter and become stronger and fitter than ever. - James

22.01.2022 If you’re looking for inspiration, a come back story or someone who has overcome incredible obstacles, Josh Bond is your guy. Josh and I grew up together, played basketball against each other and have been friends to this day! An absolute gun Basketballer , Josh has played/been involved with @westadelaidebb , @northadelaiderockets , multiple State Teams and the @adelaide36ers . Josh also received a scholarship to play College basketball in America After only 4 months of l...iving his dream of playing College Ball, Josh fell sick and received some life changing news that he had Cancer. Josh was sent on an emergency flight home and by the time he had arrived he was informed he was in Stage 4 Cancer and it had spread to his lungs, liver and brain. On top of this, the Cancer then caused a Stroke leaving him paralysed on the left side of his body and was told he may never walk again and was lucky to be alive. After months of intensive rehabilitation, Josh overcame some incredible obstacles, learned to walk again and was able to regain function of the left side of his body!! Josh is the definition of perseverance! The obstacles/odds he was able to overcome is incredible and he is now back on the path to build his strength back up and try to regain some of his athleticism he had in his high level sporting career! We’re humbled that Josh has decided to train at JT Performance and are looking forward to helping him continue his inspirational journey back! His story is inspiring as to what can be achieved & a reminder to keep first world problems in perspective. #inspiration #comeback #basketball #college #perserverance

06.01.2022 90/90 BREATHING DRILL The 90/90 Breathing Drill is a great movement to perform prior to resistance training to prime the musculoskeletal and nervous systems for optimal performance. The setup position focuses on stacking the ribcage and pelvis to create alignment of the Diaphragm and Pelvic Floor so that we are able to generate Intra Abdominal Pressure (IAP) before we initiate our Brace. ... The Tempo of the Breathing is deliberately biased tempo towards facilitating parasympathetic and inhibiting sympathetic tone, resulting in decreased muscle hypertonicity and increased active range of motion (Mobility). Alignment and/or Stacking of the Ribcage and Pelvis is a fundamental pre-requisite to achieve optimal Function of the Hip, Shoulder & Spine. Perform 1-2 sets x 3-5 reps with a 4-6 exhale prior to your next session and feel the difference. 05.01.2022 COUNTER-BALANCE TEMPO SQUAT Counter-Balance Squat is a great progression from the 90/90 Breathing Drill to help teach an individual how to align the ribcage & pelvis in an upright position as it relates to squats, deadlifts and other strength variations Stacking - Ribcage down & Pelvis neutral... 03.01.2022 The second amazing transformation is Brianna McAuley who has also lost 20kg but has improved and ticked off so many more goals than just weight loss! Last year, Brianna reached out and came in for a consultation about training. She was very anxious and nervous but knew she wanted to get started. Brianna explained how she has had life threatening asthma since she was a child, had recently been diagnosed with severe PCOS with well advanced symptoms and she was the heaviest s...he had ever been. We discussed how long term, sustainable results require sustainable methods. We weren’t going to do a quick fix challenge but we were going to educate her and introduce gradual, sustainable changes to her lifestyle & training where she would able to progress and keep it up long term! In last 6 months, Brianna has improved & changed significantly! She has gained so much confidence and learned to love training again! Brianna has been able to tick of multiple goals: Lose 20kg and 3 dress sizes Massively improve her Strength & Fitness Get a routine & love training again Improve her confidence ...as well as reporting back that her Asthma flare ups are next to none and her PCOS symptoms have significantly decreased!!

02.01.2022 When training the core it’s important to understand what you’re training and why. Despite the fitness industry pushing crunches/sit ups until you can’t sit up anymore...the main function of the core is to resist movement (Anti-Movement). The mid section stabilisers otherwise known as core muscles intention is to keep the torso stable while your limbs move during high intensity movements (running, jumping, throwing etc). Creating a strong, stiff spine via ...the muscles of the core will allow for greater force production (strength) and mobility of the limbs. Stability = Force Production A more stable spine allows for more powerful movements of the extremities and therefore increased performance. Here are a few of our favourites: Video 1: Anti-Rotation Barbell Carry Video 2: Anti-Lateral Flexion Copenhagen Plank Video 3: Anti-Extension Ab Roll Out #antimovement #core #antirotation #antiextension #antilateralflexion #performance #strengthandconditioning #nikeadelaide #jtperformance
