18.01.2022 Finley business, JT & EN Close, have been awarded $99,000 through the NSW Government’s Heritage Near Me Local Strategic Project. The grant will go towards cura...ting and opening a museum in the front of the building, to represent the businesses past as well as the history of Finley and the local area. The museum will be exhibiting old carts, wagons, employment records and other historical items. Local member, Austin Evans stated, Heritage is an important foundation of local communities as items, places and stories tell us where we have come from and how communities have grown and changed. Closes foundry is a perfect example of Finley’s heritage and the museum should create a tourism boost for the local area. The Heritage Near Me Program, offers a range of grant programs to assist local communities, owners and managers of heritage items, priority is given to those that are collaborative and multi-disciplinary that support long term sustainability through the transfer of skills, knowledge, experience and local heritage values.
