07.01.2022 Short circuit found under the house due to rising damp plus shorts found in ceiling. The house still had steel conduit with cotton covered cables in them. Although it had been partly rewired with new cable. It was a messy job and not labelled. The previous electrician removed the RCD for a regular breaker on P1 and had also disabled the RCD section of the lights circuit by removing the N and connecting it directly to the N bus.

02.01.2022 An unorthodox placement of an isolation switch / circuit breaker. Any permanently wired appliance like an air conditioner is required by law to have a mains isolator mounted close to the device. This is done for safety reasons because if a serviceman simply turns off the circuit breaker at the main board then goes to service the unit over at the other side of the house. Someone else may inadvertently turn the breaker back on and not realise there is someone working on the uni...t. (A potentially lethal scenario). By disabling the power from an isolation switch mounted nearby, the serviceman can see if anyone approaches the switch.
