21.01.2022 Our last session for the TOUGH LOVE PROJECT! We couldn't be happier with how these guys have committed and pushed themselves through the last 4 weeks. They've had early mornings and bloody tough training sessions. Along with a dramatic improvement in their fitness, we have been blown away with the quality of their boxing. It has confirmed for us that spending the time making sure the basics are done right is what's really important.... Congratulations to everyone that participated in the project and we'll done on making it to the end

20.01.2022 There are some very effective ways to train at home with very limited equipment - this is true for cardio, strength training, boxing, yoga and pilates... all classes that we offer at @brickhouse.gym There's also a heap of reasons why it's worth continuing to train from home while we're on lockdown - here's some of mine: - To maintain some level of strength and fitness... - To break up the monotony of the day - To maintain routine - To reduce anxiety about what will happen with our beloved Brickhouse Gym - To improve my productivity in other areas of my life. - To hopefully encourage my clients to stay fit and healthy regardless of their situation. However, as ALWAYS... if your goal is weightloss or maintenance, don't expect that these home workouts are going to get the job done. Training is used to build muscle, improve cardio and develop specific skills but it's not the key to weight loss. Eating in a calorie deficit is. So unless you're on rations and your fridge is bare, I'm guessing that for many of you, (in this stressful time where there are so many unknowns) you're probably stress/boredom-eating all while moving WAY less than you used to with the short commute from your bed, to your makeshift home office, to the couch for Netflix and then of course to the fridge/pantry to graze for shnacky shnacks. I believe one of the best ways to stay on track with whatever your goals might be is through planning and routine. Get pen on paper and set yourself some goals and targets. Have a think about what your training will consist of, how many sessions per week you'll do and what days/time will you train? Do up a shopping list and make sure that the majority of your food will be nutritiously dense rather than calorie dense - limit the amount of chocolate, ice cream, soft drink, etc you have stock-piled in your house... if it's not there you can't have it! And of course if you're competent with (and want to) track your calorie/macro nutrient intake, then there's absolutely no reason why you can't continue to do this. If you need more guidance or help with your plans, hit me up and I'll be happy to help

20.01.2022 Here's a few of my favourite ladder drills. Obviously they help with your footwork and coordination but they're also a good way to build some endurance in your legs as you stay on your toes, which is very applicable to boxing. You can also throw these drills in amongst other exercises to make it more of a workout and simulate being fatigued in your boxing rounds but still having to move your feet. Now... I hear you saying, "but I don't have a ladder ... wah wah wah!". Well go out and buy some damn chalk or tape or whatever and draw one up in your driveway! HOP TO IT!

19.01.2022 Another #throwback to just over a year ago - before we had a dedicated boxing studio. Realistically, you could learn to box with a few square metres of floor space, a good coach and a dedicated student... But it's still bloody nice walking into a quality set up with all the goodies

15.01.2022 If you want to progress in ANYTHING in life... You better get comfortable being uncomfortable! This is especially true in boxing and ESPECIALLY true if you're sparring two of Australia's best! Whenever I had the opportunity to spar the Moloney Twins, although it was at times VERY uncomfortable, I always came away a better boxer - it was impossible not to... it was definitely a sink or swim situation. I had to approach every sparring session with these guys like it was a figh...t - I had to make sure I was in the right mindset, I had to warm up correctly, I had to listen to my corner, I had to focus and adjust through the rounds - there wasn't a single moment that I could switch off. It's that level of intensity that forces you to level up! I'll always be very appreciative of the rounds I got to do with both @jasonmoloney and @andrewmoloney . All the best with careers guys!

Pushing themselves when we ask them to and slowing things down to get their form correct when it's required. They're an absolute pleasure to train and they're going to make some big changes to both their boxing and fitness in just a few short weeks

01.01.2022 This is of course a tough time that none of us saw coming... Life is very different for us all right now and some people are of course going to suffer more than others. I really believe that in times of adversity, this is when we see what we are really made of. I'm going to do my absolute best to keep looking after our Brickhouse Gym members, regardless of whether you're in a position to pay for your membership or not, you are a massive part of my life and I'm grateful to h...ave you. The kindness so many of you have shown me, not just in the last couple of weeks but over the many years I have known you is truly amazing. I'm grateful for my Brickhouse Family but I'm also grateful that I have Beeny, Tommy and Frankie, that I have my parents and sister here with me, that I have amazing friends all over Australia and the world, I'm grateful that I have my health and that I live in Australia. I will do my best to be kind and show compassion to those in need just as many of you have done for me, whether it's keeping your memberships rolling, participating in our online training and staying involved in our Brickhouse community, dropping off food to me, or even just checking in and letting me know that you're thinking of me and my family. It's weird, I have no idea what will happen but I feel more love from and for all of you than I ever have before . keep being rad everyone!

01.01.2022 6 years ago we moved into what is the current @brickhouse.gym group room . In this space we run 22 classes each week - Strength circuits, cardio circuits, Met-Cons, Yoga and Pilates. It's been a pretty wild ride but it's certainly been worth it
