19.01.2022 Coach Owen moving East ======================= It is with mixed feelings that tonight at training we have said goodbye to Coach Owen Roberts-Mok. Owen will be joining his girlfriend Maeve in Melbourne and continue his PT-studies and Judo training there.... Owen started his Judo career with us back in 2004 together with his dad Steve at the young age of 6. Since then he has trained and assisted in coaching in virtually all our classes, got his black belt, represented WA at a national level, represented Australia at several Oceania championships and competed at two World Championships (as a Cadet in Hungary and as a Junior Man in the Bahamas). We mention mixed feelings because on the one hand we will miss a great coach and technician who has been a great friend and a big part of our family for so many years. But on the other hand we are proud to have enabled his Judo journey and we will continue to follow and meet up with Owen throughout the (inter-)national Judo circuit. And of course we will welcome him back on our mat whenever he happens to find himself in WA. Owen, on behalf of all of us, present and past, thank you for all you have done with and for us over the years. We wish you all the best in your journeys ahead. And of course, we'll see you again soon... Coaches Robert, Patrick and Michael.

A special thanks to all the referees, table officials, Dr John, canteen staff, coaches, competitors and of course all the parents. After working closely together with Judo Western Australia and the Fremantle PCYC to ensure a safe return to sport, we're delighted to be able to say that our classes will resume from TOMORROW, Tuesday the 23rd of June. This has resulted in a minor change in our class schedule with the Tuesday senior class now starting at 6:10pm. Additional information will be send to our current members.... 05.01.2022 2021 Fremantle Open Judo Championships - 28 February ************************************************************* Judo Ryu WA is hosting the first judo competition of 2021 being the Fremantle Open on Sunday, the 28th of February 2021. ... With all the government restrictions being lifted the competition is going ahead as planned. As in previous years we will be aiming to pool competitors in white and yellow belt divisions where possible and is open to all registered JWA members. This competition is open to all competitors of all levels. If any judokas would like to try out refereeing on the day please let us know and we will aim to get them on the mat under the supervision of an experienced referee. Weigh-in times: 08:00am to 08:30am - Monstars, Junior and Senior Boys & Girls 11:30am to 12:00pm - Cadets, Junior, Senior and Veterans Men & Women Competition start time is 9:00am. A small canteen will be available. For any competitors wishing to register, please visit www.JudoRyuWA.com.au.
