18.01.2022 Save the Date! We are excited to announce the Canberra Moot, to be held on Sunday, the 13th of December. Interstate teams will be invited as long as the ACT government continues to permit them, with reasonable social distancing conduct to be observed during event hours. Registration on the day will also be implemented, due to higher numbers and likely interstate travellers. ... We are currently awaiting confirmation on location, with further details forth coming. Watch this space! Jugger Canberra Council

10.01.2022 Juggers! We are hoping to finalize our core order on Sunday evening. If you are interested in ordering a core, please get in touch! Currently the following people have expressed interest:... Dylan Jeremy Cores are being ordered from Exel Composites, who have a variety of lengths, diameters and materials to choose from. https://exelwebstore.com.au/composite-tubes.html Postage contribution is a flat $10, regardless of how many cores you order. If the collective postage contributions exceed actual costs, that money will go towards future club events and activities. If you want any advice or recommendations, council is more than happy to help out, plus the community has many experienced pompfen builders to talk to as well! Kindly, Jugger Canberra Council

02.01.2022 The Jugger Canberra Council met this week to reflect on the year that's been, and what lays ahead for 2021. Things are still in the works, but we want to let you know the following: - Jugger will be moving to 10am Sundays - We are looking at having more tournament, team, and training sessions. - The first weekend back will be January 17th (op-shop themed day!)... - Mouth guards are now mandatory for Qwiks at all Jugger Canberra events. A lot of this comes from your feedback throughout the past few months, and the community survey. We are very thankful for everyone who got in touch with us, and we hope that this will lead to 2021 being a thoroughly enjoyable year for Jugger in Canberra! Longer notes: Start Times: The survey reflected a strong preference for Jugger to be held in the morning, so we are shifting to that time slot. This will avoid changing start times throughout the year chasing sunlight or cooler weather, and be less disruptive to people's Sundays. We are looking at setting up around 9:30am, with games starting at 10am. Competition and Team Session: The community survey showed very strong preference towards team competition, and interest in ribbon tournaments and training sessions. We are looking at making these all more frequent and regular in 2021. First day back: January 17th will be the first day back for Jugger Canberra. As we did not finish the year with an op-shop day, we will start with one instead! For those of you who haven't been to one before, all you need to do is buy some clothes from an op shop and play Jugger in them. If they survive the day, give them a wash and donate back to a charity! We will put out a formal event for this soon. Mouthguards: Qwiking is a physical role that involves contact and wrestling with other players, poses the greatest risk for getting a mouth injury, and there have been incidents in the past. Given the effectiveness of mouth guards at preventing dental injury, their low cost, and community support towards them, mouth guards are now mandatory for Qwiks at all Jugger Canberra events. We acknowledge that this means there is now a slight financial barrier to playing one position, however it is a one time cost (barring losing your mouth guard) that is much lower compared to yearly fees or equipment costs for other sports. If you don't have a mouth guard, you can always play as an Enforcer! See you in 2021! - The Jugger Canberra Council
