15.01.2022 Sara Louise G Now Shodan 1st deg black belt many many years of work August 2014 -To-August 2020 a very proud Shihan well done Young lady

14.01.2022 I seem to have had the same discussions with 5 parents over the past few weeks = When should we allow a Person to Grade to Black Belt what age This is within a organisations own charter We at the Juku-do-ryu issued Jnr Black Belts until 2014. but i decided with no new jnrs near the age requirement 12yrs... we would suspend this practice 2016 and only issue Adult Shodan ranks at 16yrs of age this take nothing away from the jnrs training and is more about the commitment to the Art and club itself. with more coaching guidelines to help along the way. This was a personal choice by myself when i reflected on my Jnr BB Shodan ho when i was 15 sparing against Adults . we follow the Judo Charters Age Guidelines for Black belts as Judo did invent the Shodan Dans Ranking system . if you find a club or system that issues jnr Black belts =shodan ho they will most likely have a jnr stripe Gold Tab or stripes on belts up to 16 when they can change to full Adult black belt. if you bring a 5 yr old to a dojo its a 11 year Journey for the Teacher and student -but a Great bond between both. SHODAN: first degree black belt = 16 yrs old Nidan: second degree black belt = 18 yrs old Sandan: third degree black belt = 21 yrs old Yodan: fourth degree black belt = 25 yrs old Godan: fifth degree black belt (shihan) = 30 yrs old Rokudan: sixth degree red and white belt = 36 yrs old Nanadan: seventh degree red and white belt = 43 yrs old Hachidan: eight degree red ans white belt = 50 yrs old Kudan: ninth degree red belt = any year after Judan: tenth degree red belt ( When No Longer on this Earth) This is just a Guide to the Charter we follow The Ranks Above 4th Dan Yondan can be issued earlier than 5 years and is issued by the President of association 8th Dan minimum and witnessed by international President / association food for thought Shihan Darren Miles
