18.01.2022 We all have every right to preserve our emotional integrity...

13.01.2022 People who are often believe in conspiracy theories are people who grew up with very authoritarian parents. They had no autonomy or freedom. They were overly controlled. So when something like a government starts talking about boundaries to protect from a virus, they start coming up with theories why the government (aka parent figures) are wrong. It’s their younger selves desperate for some agency over their own lives. The fear of the unknown, the fear of the pandemic or Bil...l Gates or a mask or whoever it is, takes people out of their bodies so they don’t have to relive the fear of being over controlled again. When I hear somebody talking about Covid not being real or that 5G is the really cause of the virus, I start to think about what little control they had in their childhood. Often conspiracy theories are an ungrounded attempt at regaining some autonomy. New Zealand is an interesting meditation. They are virus free but have 5G. (Lots of people think 5G caused Covid). Disassociation is a symptom of childhood trauma. One way that can really manifest is through trying to turn something scientific into ‘you don’t get this’. Putting on a superiority mask. Conspiracy theorists will stop at a red light. Use a seat belt. They will click on a Facebook ad. Be controlled by Social Media propaganda, but a Virus...... yeah that’s not real. If you can state with clarity that you know the ‘truth’ and others don’t know anything.... that’s one way you can assert feelings of power when you feel insecure. It can feel good to be the Wise one in a flock of sheep. Covid has brought up all of our issues around fragility. Heightened our anxiety. How did this start? When will it end? Can’t we just hurry this up and it will end? We live in a traumatised population. Energetically. Politically. Globally. We have fear that we are trying to navigate and staying in our bodies is step one of healing. Well trained somatic practitioners can help you get into your body. Diving deep into your issues around being controlled and exploring trauma that causes you to disassociate can help you to feel less anxious. What’s your relationship to authority? How can you reclaim sovereignty over your life that you lost as a child/ teenager? I remember New Year’s Eve 1999. #Y2K Bottles of water in the house. Lots of people feeling doom and gloom because computers were not going to work. People getting out $1000’s from ATMs. Then nothing. Everything worked like clockwork. People and humanity in general are recalibrating. Breathing. Slowing down. Couples on the brink of divorce are getting closer. Close couples are ready to divorce. Friendship dynamics are changing. Our soul purpose might be clearer. This is changing all of our lives. We are living though history. Staying in your body and staying with your feelings are the best form of self care.

13.01.2022 Shaking. A knot in your stomach. The chest tightens. Sweating. Heart palpitations. Sweaty palms. Our body talks to us all the time if we listen. Our body has fluent alarm systems this urge us that ‘this is not ok’. Yet, often we stay in situations that our body clearly wants to leave. The mind and body are intimately connected but sometimes we choose to listen to our mind instead of tuning into the wisdom of the body. ... When trauma occurs in our life, it gets stored in our mind, memory and the tissue of our body. Have you ever had the experience of getting a hug and just spontaneously burst into tears? Many years ago I was in a very stressful job and on high blood pressure. I would go to yoga regularly. I remember going to an early morning class and we went into camel pose (on your knees and arching your back, opening the heart). The heart opening felt great. Then suddenly I began to sob. SOB. I went into child’s pose for the rest of the class. I was fortunate enough to have a yoga teacher who encouraged me to stay and just let go. Nothing bad had happened, but something was clearly coming up. I didn’t need to know what was wrong, my body was telling me that something was. Trauma isn’t just a violent attack or car accident. There are so many ways that our soul and psyche can be violated. Psychological trauma can absolutely affect the body. Trauma can shock the autonomic nervous system into hyperarousal and hypervigilance. How can we start to edge out of this state? The breath. The breath is the first step. The breath leads us to our body and a depth of intelligence. Notice your breathing. What is easier today? The inhalation or the exhalation. Once you become aware of your breath it is a doorway to feeling the rest of your body. This week, pay attention to your breath. What is it telling you about yourself? Is is restricted and tight? Or are you holding your breath? Let your body do the talking for you.
