25.01.2022 West Pennant Hills Public School have built a new passive playground/outdoor classroom for the students, giving them a very beautiful, colourful space to further develop social skills and social engagement and in doing so creating a more inclusive school environment. It was a pleasure to be able to contribute $4,245 to the project through the Local Schools Community Fund. I know the space will be much loved and well used by students.
22.01.2022 Ekim Brewing Co, one of the local breweries in our electorate, recently made Peter Lalor's top 20 beers for the Bloodshot Red IPA! I dropped in to say congrats and try the beer for myself, and I can certainly recommend it. Check out the Red IPA in the Top 20 beers here: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/li/food-drink/top-20-beers
21.01.2022 This morning New Hope School held a Ground-Breaking ceremony for the development of their new campus. I am delighted that the Federal Government has been involved in supporting the school with $800,000 to build new special needs classrooms, breakout spaces and amenities for students living with disability. The school currently has 23 students, however once the building is complete, the facilities will accommodate 72 students. I have no doubt that the school will continue to bring immense value to all those who go to New Hope School and all those who interact with it.
20.01.2022 St Agatha's Catholic Primary School, Pennant Hills have spent the last five months developing their new performance stage decking area outside their library, giving St Agatha’s and other local schools a new area to showcase their performances. Thank you for the warm welcome! It was a pleasure contributing $10,000 to this fantastic project through the Local Schools Community Fund.
20.01.2022 Murray Farm Public School needed some new flags so I thought I'd drop them off myself! It was a pleasure meeting the school leaders and watch them proudly raise the flags.
16.01.2022 Today, I was thrilled to welcome the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, Karen Andrews MP, to talk to manufacturers in the Berowra electorate about the Morrison Government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy. Minister Andrews heard from a number of our local manufacturers as they discussed the future growth of Australia’s manufacturing sector. Mobility Engineering
12.01.2022 Reg Saunders was a remarkable Indigenous Australian, who was born 100 years ago this year. Reg was the first commissioned officer of Aboriginal background in the ADF. That's a point of history and knowledge that many Australians will know. What most people probably won't know is what a remarkable war service he actually had. I had the opporunity to share about his contribution to Australia this week in Parliament.
11.01.2022 There is another good reason to go to Berowra Waters this morning - the Arcadia Public School Christmas Market open till midday.
09.01.2022 Today I tabled the Final Report for the Inquiry into the Working Holiday Maker Program, a vital migration program for Australia. The program contributes $3.1 billion annually to Australia's economy and creates jobs all over Australia, particularly in regional areas. WHMs also play a critical role in filling skills shortages across Australia, particularly in our horticulture, agriculture and tourism sectors. The interim report dealt with the substantial agricultural and hortic...ultural labour shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, this report largely focuses on longer-term changes to the visa program. 09.01.2022 Asquith Boys High School have revamped their oval, giving students a great new field to play on at lunchtimes and during sport. The oval upgrade will also benefit the school community more broadly with soccer and football clubs in the area often utilising the oval for training and games. It was a pleasure contributing $10,000 to the aerating, top dressing and replacement of the goal posts through the Local Schools Community Fund. Thanks for letting me test out the goals!
08.01.2022 Minister Karen Andrews MP and I opened ProForm Foods’ new $11m manufacturing facility for plant-based meats which is located in Mount Kuring-Gai. ProForm Foods produces 28 different plant-based meat products ranging from meatballs, burgers, beef style strips, chicken style strips and various mince products. All hold a 4.5 health start rating. Their new facility can produce 5000 tonnes of their plant-based products annually.
07.01.2022 Congratulations to all those at St John Ambulance Hornsby Division and Hornsby Cadet Division who were recipients of the Long Service Medal, New South Wales Premier's citation or Volunteer Recognition Awards from the Centre for Volunteering. In addition to serving around Australia during the bushfires, this year many St John Ambulance volunteers have also served on the front line during COVID at testing clinics and hotels, and checking temperatures at events. On behalf of everyone in the Berowra electorate, thank you to everyone at St John Ambulance.
04.01.2022 Today I asked the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews MP to outline to the House how the Morrison Government’s commitment to supporting our manufacturing sector is helping create jobs and drive our comeback from the COVID-19 recession.
