25.01.2022 Decided to try out some watercolouring. I must say YouTube tutorials helped a lot. Still a lot of room for improvement but I'm happy with my first go. More determined to practice!

24.01.2022 My latest painting of a song thrush egg. At first I thought this would be a quick and easy painting but no- it gave me quite a bit of trouble, trying to get a dimensional shape, smooth our the colour while having texture in the right places and colour mixes separating on the page- overall not my best work but was a good practice none the less. #howipaint #myart #watercolour #watercolorpainting #watercolourpainting

24.01.2022 It's finished! I love working with bright colours- lifts my mood and inspires me to do more creative things. I've always wanted to be able to draw and paint animals and birds and this is my 2nd attempt (first one was a lion and was a complete disaster ) and I'm quite happy how this turned out. There is always room for improvement but it encourages me to keep trying and to do more ... 11.01.2022 DIY Paint and Wine night at home - anyone can do it. All you need is some painting supplies and lots of wine This painting was based on a video on YouTube by Correa Art. Acrylic on canvas is not my usual go to but it's relatively easy and quick compared to watercolour and perfect for a painting night with friends or family. 06.01.2022 When trying to paint something very light without a lot of contrast in colour, it is best to layer lighter paint over and over to achieve a subtle look rather than go in with darker colour straight away. With lighter colour you can have more control over your shading and not overdo it on your first layer. #watercolour #watercolourart #watercolor #watercolorpainting #watercolourpainting

04.01.2022 My latest painting was a bit of a challenge. At first it didn't seem too involved and painting water with salt effects was really fun, but when it came to adding shadows and details on the jellyfish - that's where it became really hard to work out how to do it. Then I realised I need to study the photo a bit closer and finally was able to *see* how the shapes and colours made up different parts of the jellyfish and I was able to make something that resembles it ... 03.01.2022 What to do when you mess up your painting?? Not every painting will always go as planned or meet your expections. So what can you do about it? Simple- learn from it! Give yourself grace to practice and learn and grow. I thought this painting of a strawberry would be a quick and easy project. But despite looking like it just has a few variations of the same colour, I found it very difficult to mix right shades to create dimention, 3D effect and depth in the painting. Until I ...went too dark and muddy with my shade mixes and no matter what I did, it just spread the colour from one spot to the other creating muddy patches and making things worse. What did I do? Tried to fix it, as one would in my situation- applied layer upon dozens of layers of colour over the afore mentioned messy spots. Put it this way- from a distance it's not too bad but close up I can see my *areas of struggle* Either way, I have learned once again to apply layers lighter to start with and build up from there but most importantly- study your reference photo or object first very carefully, this is a key to picking out variations in colour, texture and how colour tone builds up shapes and makes an image look 3D And even most importantly- go easy on yourself!
