19.01.2022 This is your invitation to be a contributory Public Artist. Just an update on the Revive the Reef project, for any creatives out there! Feel free to share with anyone you think may be interested. The Brief; Reflecting a stretch of reef, through artistic contributions ranging from bleached white to vivid colours the work aims to represent the visual extremes between a lifeless and a healthy reef structure. ... The location is the 89m stretch of Bentinck St foreshore fence, so there is plenty of room. Small individual pieces are encouraged, so they can be integrated into the progressively changing colour spectrum but larger complete sections with not too much variation in hue will also work well. Work must be: - inspired by sea corals and sponges (no fish please) - made from light-weight, non reflective materials (no paper)- no bigger than 500 x 1800mm in either direction or multiple smaller works. You could do a 10m length as long as it is no higher than 500ish, to allow air-flow through the fence. - any colour from white to vivid (but no rainbow wool please)- any style you like, from realistic to abstract - You may contribute as many pieces as you feel the urge to create! As the work will be subject to weather over the 4 week exhibition period from Oct 31-Nov 29, contributors should be conscious that their work may alter in structure and colour. Work will need to be brought to the Bentinck St site on Thursday October 29 between 9 and 10am or delivered to the Julia St Creative Space prior to this. Please shout out if you have any queries.
