24.01.2022 "You'll always be in my heart because in there you're still alive" Halloween and Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos) are coming up in the next month. Whilst it hasn't been a big thing here in Australia, having spent over 3 years in the USA, it is a celebration we came to understand better as a family. It celebrates the end of the harvest festival, it's a holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion in Mexico, however, the ...tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Our home ended up blending a mix of all three meanings in a lot of ways. There were pumpkins and corns to mark harvest, our loved ones out on the shelf to remember, and boy did the kids love to dress up and celebrate in the neighborhood BBQs with other families. It wasn't about the candy in our home, in fact, the 'switch witch' used to come the night after Halloween and trade all of their lollies for something they needed/wanted like clothing, small lego, or toy. So over the next four weeks I'll definitely be playing with the darker side of life (I do love a little creepy occasionally!) and setting up some Halloween themed mini sessions to do as well. It will be a whole lot of fun!

22.01.2022 I love collaborating with other businesses to help create something fun and unique for their clients. I was approached after making some fun Vogue covers with my work as the front cover and sharing them. I absolutely said yes! How fun! This gorgeous Senior shoot from the USA was created into a GQ Magazine cover right in time for his birthday. The photographer joked him that he should be in magazines and definitely on the cover and I obliged in making it a reality! I have to agree with her, he'd make an excellent cover!

Whilst individual fantasy portraits are always available throughout the year, club only opens once a year to come to the studio monthly at a discounted rate. 14.01.2022 I've been following Hannah Jensen Contemporary Artist on Instagram and had to share her with you. She covers her objects she's going to carve with over 200 layers of acrylic paint and then uses fine carving tools to scuplt and create her images. They're absolutely stunning! 10.01.2022 Ruby wants to specially thank each and everyone of you for taking part in our lucky dip yesterday. For those of you who don’t know, Ruby came to us two years ago as a foster pup from Dubbo pound via Australian Working Dog Rescue. Needless to say she never left and makes up the second half of our studio pooches. You might hear her barking or jumping high up the back door To say hello! ... Thanks to the lucky dips yesterday, every last cent of the $60 taken is going direct to AWDRI to help other dogs find their forever homes this Christmas. 08.01.2022 Ten years ago, a little project called The Black and White Project was born and brought to life with the collaboration of some beautiful Canberra families. I photographed each child to the theme of what each child's parent did for a living. We had everything and not a single repeat job! I remember a LOT of laughter and fun and we even raised money for the Woden Valley Hospital NICU with our 2011 Calendar. Reminissing about the project, and I was wondering how each of the k...ids are now? They'd all be 10 years old or more by now and well into their growth spurts. I know my Navy Officer definitely has grown a little! How fun would it be to do this again!

04.01.2022 Welcome to the new Julie Clyde Creative followers! It's so good to have you on this adventure with me! After needing an update to my headshot (for fun adventures afoot, more on that soon!) I thought it might be time to introduce myself. I'm Jules, a proud Aussie, professional photographer, and artist. I was born and raised in Canberra, I've been fortunate enough to have lived all over the world, but made Coffs Harbour home for the last 3 years after returning from 3 years pr...evious in the USA. I have over 13 years of experience in both photography and design in the creative industry. My contemporary portrait style transcends traditional stereotypes and is ever-evolving to bigger and more exciting platforms. I created my own Fantasy Portrait style back in 2018, in which I use my signature techniques to turn anyone into their own superhero and legendary icon. Each image you see has been handcrafted by myself and can often contain over 25+ images and layers. When I first began I used a mix of purchased and my own handcrafted backgrounds, but these days I create almost all of my own so each piece is unique. I have had my work featured in many print publications over the years and picked up some awards along the way too. I can't wait to craft something special and unique for you and your family.
