25.01.2022 #Isolation hasnt been easy for me (for anyone for that matter), but with the forced downtime and the space to breathe and think, there have bene plenty of silver linings and quite a few ah ha moments. My dislike of living in trackpants wasnt one of them, its something Ive always felt strongly about, but the realisation that other women might feel the way I do certainly was.

I design and make fashion for women who want something just for themselves, women who appreciate that step further in fit and fabrication, or for women who cant find what they want off the rack. 22.01.2022 THE CLUTCH THAT BROKE THE INTERNET! The beautiful @dainajreid wore @juliegoodwincouture to the #emmys on Sunday night and to complete her outfit, @becstylin had this @jimmychoo clutch custom emblazoned. What a masterpiece?! Daina was the only Australian to be nominated for an Emmy this year, for her role directing The Handmaids Tale, so it was only fitting that #praisebe be a part of her outfit! If you havent watched #thehandmaidstale yet, prepare yourself for a binge-worthy session of drama tv. Theres something magical about a full length gown on the red carpet. Two beautiful women and a beautiful moment. Styled by Siobhan Baxter.

It was Chanel who said, women should have ropes and ropes of pearls and she was famous for wearing multiple strands herself.

Photographers flock from around the world, and the media swoop to capture the whos who of talent on the red carpet in their whos who of designer labels, and this year, Julie Goodwin Couture will be one of them!

12.01.2022 When it comes to mother of the bride outfit rules, Ive heard them all. Every bride is different, every big day is different, and every bride has a different set of outfit rules for her mother, and the mother of the groom too. Some brides are slightly more relaxed than others, and some are more traditional than others, but there is a general list of what to wear and what not to wear as the mother of the bride.

12.01.2022 Mask making in the process! My masks are constructed in 3 layers, each a different weave, which research tells me is more effective than a single fabric type, and theyre available in two styles too, pleat or curve. My masks are made in natural fabrics; silk, cotton and some very lightweight wool. The silks are in plains, prints, jacquards and twills - all beautiful! Boning is sewn in across the bridge of the nose so that you can adjust the fit for extra comfort.... And I can make to any requirements - children and beards all catered for! It might seem crazy, but Im actually enjoying the process of making these for each person who orders. Ive been showing them photos of fabrics to choose from, advising on style-for-purpose, and putting little mask wardrobes together. It really is a mini-couture endeavour. And if you have to wear a mask, it may as well be made of some gorgeous Dior silk or a sharp pinstripe. 11.01.2022 Melbournes winter is a woolly one. On average, we brave 7-degree days for the best part of 90 days, and we shelter from rain at least two days of every seven. Im a glass-half-full kind of gal though, so while it may be dreary for some, for me its a great time to layer my outfits and bring out my best coats.

When it comes to events and photoshoots, a stylist can make or break the outcome, and when two people are working together on something as personal as their own work, the creative chemistry has to be just right too. Thats why I work with Bec Cole again and again. Weve worked together on projects big and small, and when were working together, it just makes sense.

This was going to be the year of re-wearing previous Spring Racing outfits, but my mother recently gave me this glorious piece of emerald silk, a gift from my father to her, and there was no way I was going to let it sit in my collection. I used the whole length to make this two-piece outfit. The offcuts were mere shreds as I didnt want to waste a precious inch. I topped it off with a headpiece I made (yep!) to go with the Edie Parker clutch graciously loaned by Bec Cole, and its such a fun, easy to wear outfit. Its very #MelbourneCup, and I know Dad would have approved!
