25.01.2022 Join me right here for a Facebook Live at 5pm tonight! Let's dive in to the important issues the people of Parramatta are contacting the office to talk about.

25.01.2022 On 28 September, the Liberals’ cut to JobKeeper will hit 32,237 Parramatta workers. Up to $28, 722, 863 will be pulled out of our economy every fortnight. It makes no sense in the middle of this recession and risks more jobs and local business closures!

25.01.2022 The Youth Action Project Grant Scheme is providing grants between $5,000 and $20,000 to projects that support young people (15-24 years) as they navigate and recover from the challenges of 2020. Applications close October 7. To apply or for more information, visit: https://bit.ly/34Zr23z

24.01.2022 A couple of pics from the beautiful HMAS Parramatta II memorial service. A very COVID-safe event. Lest we forget.

The vouchers can be used at participating COVID safe businesses 7 days a week, except public holidays, until 30 June 2021. Visit here for more information/to apply: https://bit.ly/3ufLiHx #parramatta

23.01.2022 Expressions of interest for Volunteer Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are now open. These grants aim to support volunteers through the purchase of relevant equipment or the reimbursement of fuel, transport or training costs. Express your interest here before 5pm, April 18: https://bit.ly/3m9Rlee #GrantWatchParramatta #JulieOwens

19.01.2022 In case you missed it - the people of Parramatta are contacting the office about lots of issues important to them and our community. Let's dive in to what everyone's talking about. Join me right here for a Facebook Live, 5pm, Wednesday September 16.

17.01.2022 Lots of people in Parramatta are still waiting to be connected to the NBN. Many others are struggling with slow connection speeds over old copper phone lines. The Liberal Government promised to deliver the NBN faster and cheaper with old technology - but now the cost has blown out to $57 billion. Sign the petition to demand fast, reliable internet in Parramatta now: https://bit.ly/3nri1Hm

16.01.2022 City of Parramatta Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI)to take part in Parramatch 2020, a program that helps local not-for-profits and social enterprises raise money for projects through crowdfunding. Participants will receive expert training in how to pitch ideas, a masterclass in crowdfunding and social media outreach and the City of Parramatta will be giving each campaign $1,000 to kickstart their crowdfunding! The EOI closes on 28 September 2020. For more information, or to submit an application, visit: https://bit.ly/32wOmEh

16.01.2022 Sudha is one of more than 36,000 Australians stranded overseas. Today her husband Vikram told Albo and I the heartbreaking story of his fight to bring her home. Scott Morrison promised he would get everyone home by Christmas it’s long past time for him to deliver.

11.01.2022 While Parramatta CBD and surrounds won't get the NBN until 2022, and Merrylands and Granville are still waiting for connection, the Morrison Government is going to spend $4.5 billion to rebuild the NBN with fibre for 10 million homes and businesses that are already connected. We don't need to rebuild the NBN in Parramatta - we need the government to get it right the first time. Sign the petition on my website to demand fast, reliable NBN built on fibre in Parramatta NOW: https://bit.ly/303NEgi

11.01.2022 From tomorrow - 25 September - 17,358 people in Parramatta who are relying on the $550 'Coronavirus Supplement' top-up will have their fortnightly payments cut by $300 This could rip as much as $5.2 million from the local economy every fortnight - equivalent to 1,996 jobs. Cutting support for unemployed people without a plan to get them back into jobs risks plunging our economy - and all of us - into a longer and deeper recession.

11.01.2022 The Feed Appeal Grants are open! Grants for up to $50 000 are available for local charities to help provide effective and targeted food relief programs in Parramatta. For more information or to apply: https://bit.ly/314qp5J ... #GrantWatchParramatta #Parramatta #JulieOwens

10.01.2022 Back in 2004, the late great Bernie Banton, asbestos campaigner, convinced me to convince Labor to ban donations from asbestos companies. On August 11 that year, Labor announced the $77,500 donation from James Hardie would be donated to the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia. Don't forget Bernie Banton, one of the good ones. #asbestoslurks #asbestosawarenessweek

02.01.2022 This September the pension will not be indexed for the first time in almost a quarter of a century. The freeze will hurt 21,051 pensioners in Parramatta. Many who budgeted for an increase will face a lean Christmas. We're calling on the Morrison Government to end the pension freeze now.
