25.01.2022 Our new inherited addition and the children are loving her. They are learning about empathy and how to be gentle and caring towards another living creature

24.01.2022 Today we did a simple science experiment using milk, food colouring and washing detergent and the children were fascinated with the way that the colours moved and swirled. Some got very creative by making their own patterns with the reaction that was happening

24.01.2022 The children were all very busy exploring and doing their own thing today out in the lovely sunshine on this winters day after the rains

24.01.2022 This morning we were admiring the bell shaped flowers on the tree. This afternoon in the warm sunshine the tree was full of bees so we watched them, listened to them and then sadly found a dead one on the chair. We then discussed what bees do and how they do it. I was also asked about the queen bee which we had to research on the internet for correct answer.

23.01.2022 We have had our little veggie garden for a while but because of our pet rabbit, everything that starts to grow is eaten. Today we all helped to put together the green house covering. Fingers crossed that things can now grow. Marshmallow the rabbit wasn’t happy with it because she couldn’t jump from the top garden onto the veggie garden.

23.01.2022 I was asked this morning if the birdbath and the ‘wildlife’ because it’s for possums and lizards, bath was full and ready for the hot day tomorrow. We put fresh water in it and a branch in case smaller animals fell in. In no time we saw a bird come down for a drink and a wash in the birdbath.

18.01.2022 The children enjoyed doing their Easter craft and were very happy with the end results. One child wouldn't take his mask off and kept looking at himself in the mirror

13.01.2022 Fathers Day gifts completed and the children are very happy with them. They decorated their own special photo frames and also made some Nuts and Bolts

13.01.2022 The focus here over the last several weeks has been dinosaurs and in particular dinosaurs hatching from eggs. Today we watched and watched and waited and waited for a dinosaur to hatch from an egg. The anticipation and the excitement was lovely to see. The boys were wondering what dinosaur it would be and hoping that it would be the infamous T-Rex. Unfortunately it turned out to be an Elasmosaurus. We had to google this to find out the name of it. Once they got over their initial disappointment they were very happy with their new baby dinosaur.

12.01.2022 We spotted a butterfly that wasn't flying far before landing. It crawled onto my finger and the children were able to get a good close look at it. I explained that we can't touch it and to let it crawl onto their finger. They were so very caring and gentle with it and we had a good look at it. When we had finished looking at it the group decision was to put it onto a flower. One child was very excited that the caterpillar that we had discovered a few months back had returned as a butterfly

08.01.2022 Spring has arrived with a lot of backyard activities. Seeds planted, birdbath scrubbed and washed and mr 5yo trying to find where our resident magpies have made their nest this year and if any babies have hatched yet.

01.01.2022 MST B has been very interested in aliens. Drawing them, making them and discussing them and what we imagine they would look like. Today because the other children were away, I decided to follow up on his interest of aliens with him by him making a huge alien cookie. His cookie has many legs and arms, mouths and teeth.
