25.01.2022 A tranquil start to our sightseeing today in Cowra, with a visit to the stunning Japanese Gardens. Then on to the former Prisoner of War Camp site where over a thousand Japanese prisoners staged a mass escape in 1944. Then a look around the Australian & Japanese War Cemetery. This was followed by lunch & wine tasting. Then it was time to look at the Indigenous art murals painted on the Cowra Bridge Pylons, situated beneath the Lachlan River Bridge. We finished the day at Australia's World Peace Bell.

24.01.2022 It was a painted water tank day today. We started off with a large tank in Narrandera which is still to be completed. Then we went looking for koalas along the river which is a bit of a koala sanctuary (We found one small koala high up in the trees). Then a few smaller ones at roadside rest stops along the Sturt & Hume highways near Collingullie & Tarcutta. Then one more large tank in Wagga Wagga which unfortunately has been grafittied quite a bit. Our night stop is in Cootamundra - birthplace of Don Bradman. Lots of small country roads driven today and really lovely country towns passed through. A few shots of Junee included.

21.01.2022 Spectacular painted silos today after a visit first thing to the birthplace of Don Bradman Museum in Cootamundra. From here we had a quick stop in Young, then on to the first silo in Grenfell. This one was so impressive with the sheep, cattle & native birds spread over multiple silos. Grenfell also has a lot of historic buildings in its main street making it well worth a look. Then it was on to Weethalle and again, very impressive artwork and painted by the same person as the Grenfell silos. We ended our day in Condobolin and will explore here tomorrow.

19.01.2022 What a year it has been for everyone and the travel industry has been hit so hard with Covid halting our international adventures from Australia. We wish you a safe, happy and healthy Christmas and hope that we can look forward to some adventures in 2021 (even if they have to be closer to home - there is so much to explore in our own country). Season's Greetings.

18.01.2022 Roads were still closed today, so no visit to Cameron Corner this trip, we will have to return. Even the main highway to Broken Hill was closed due to one area being flooded. Part of the Silver City Highway south of Tibooburra doubles as an airstrip for emergency landings (see photos). We left Tibooburra heading for White Cliffs via a partially sealed road (our tourist map lied, it was all unsealed!) the road was one of the few in the area that was open. We had an interesting journey with a few patches of boggy, red dirt road providing a few challenges (my car is so dirty now!). We had a great tour of an Opal mine in White Cliffs and took in a few of the small towns attractions on their Heritage Trail - the solar power station, general store, pub & beer bottle house.

17.01.2022 International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific. #IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge... https://www.internationalwomensday.com/ See more

15.01.2022 On our way to our night stop in Cowra, we stopped off in Eugowra to follow their mural trail. This was a tiny town located in the heart of bushranger country and is most famous for Australia's biggest gold robbery. The murals added so much character to the town & were an initiative in 2012 to rejuvenate the town & attract tourists. Well worth a visit.

13.01.2022 A visit to the small town of Menindee and the Menindee Lakes today(Menindee lake itself actually has no water in it for the past few years) and then a drive through station country to our overnight stop in Wentworth.

11.01.2022 Our last day today and we are finishing off this trip back on the painted silo and water tank trail as we head back into Sydney. First stop was Portland and their impressive silos. The people painted on here were so lifelike, just amazing. We found a few sculptures at the silo site as well. Wandering around Portland's main street, we came across vintage signs of historic brand names painted on building walls dotted around town. Then we moved on to the Painted water tanks at Katoomba (aquarium), Boddington Hill (lyrebird) & Lapstone (frog sun baking) in the Blue Mountains. This is the end of a great couple of weeks exploring NSW. Using the locations of the painted silos and water tanks as a base plan for our itinerary worked really well. We then just plotted a route between each one and enjoyed the scenery in between. #explorensw

10.01.2022 Today started with a quick look at some of the historic buildings in Condobolin. Then out to see the "Utes in the paddock" sculptures (who knew the art you could make with the classic Aussie ute!) & then to look at the Memorial to Australia's Fallen Jockeys.

07.01.2022 We are back on the painted water tank trail today as well as some sculptures & historic buildings. First stop today was Deniliquin (home of the Deni Ute Muster) & a painted water tank. Then on to Lockhart for another water tower, sculptures and a street lined with lovely historic buildings. We finished the day in the tiny town of Milbrulong to see their water tower and a few very old buildings with lots of character. Our night stop is Narrandera & we will see their painted water tower in the morning.

01.01.2022 From Condobolin we drove through Parkes and on to Forbes to take a look at their historic buildings and sculptures.
