15.01.2022 At The Plaza with Carol Duncan this morning. The upgrade of James Street Plaza in Hamilton is underway! City of Newcastle will be replacing existing street furniture with new furniture at the edges of the plaza to deliver a more flexible open space which can be activated for community use in multiple ways. Shade trees around the edge of the Plaza will be retained, and new garden beds planted at the base of the trees. Paving will be renewed to improve safety and drainage of st...ormwater. We will also install a creative, interactive lighting feature, which will celebrate Hamilton’s unique character and heritage. (Thanks to the amazing historian Ruth Cotton for her contribution to this!) Thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute during consultation, to Janice from Hamilton Business Association and Lovkesh at the Clocktower Cafe for hosting us this morning, and to our fabulous City of Newcastle staff who are building a beautiful new space for the community.
