24.01.2022 Meet Katrina. She grew up at the end of a dirt road in New Hampshire and was familiar with the cycles of nature from an early age. She studied permaculture befo...re going to grad school for architecture, where she designed a system that would compost human bodies. Katrina began seeking out experts in the fields of law, soil science, and design, and several years later Recompose was born. Katrinas favorite part of this work is empowering people to have an expanded view of the natural cycles, including their own place in them. She believes that theres no right way to feel about death and that no one owns the concept of dignity. And many will be grieving during this time of disconnection and isolation.... Rituals around grief are intrinsic to the whole experience. Funerals offer time to come together in honour of someones life. They connect and nurture us. Right now, funerals are constrained, different, less connected, more isolated. Discovering different ways of lamenting and grieving when we cant gather and nurture and support one another adds another layer to the experience. This program offers helpful, sensitive insights and suggestions about death, funerals and grief, during isolation - tips such as: Light a candle Wear a colour the person loved Play their music Gather people around as best you can A good friend of mine is currently comforting her dad during the last days of his life. Be angry, truly angry, for what you have lost. Shout at the sky. Smash some plates. Scream at the world. Why would you not? But remember the good times. The laughs, the hugs, the moments of joy. The special, private moments that only you know. Write them down if you can. Or talk about them with people who also remember. Or sing or paint them, or find another way. For he was magic, and in your life. Not for long enough, thats for sure. But if you can, be grateful.
