19.01.2022 Found this from Gottman Institute and it is a beautiful way of acknowledging how the little one feels instead of "stop crying!". Let them know that it is okay to be sad and cry and it is part of human emotions, the most important thing is to let them know they can come to you for support and encouragement. Let us raise happy children that is in tune of how they feel

18.01.2022 Great news today with the news that indoor swimming pools will be able to open with 20 occupants. We are very excited as everyone to start back but we will need to be sure the regulations are followed and our customers basic needs can be met. Eg: change rooms and change tables can be used, also traffic flow is regulated.... Learn to swim is a little different in circumstances to just swimming and we are waiting for confirmation on the regulations and our requirements to re open. We will be in contact as soon as we have confirmation of the go ahead. Thank you for your patience JUMP! Carrum Downs

17.01.2022 Our children are watching and listening to what is happening around them, this pandemic is especially harder for little people when their world is turned upside down but not fully understand why. Let us support their mental health by truly listening to how they feel or act and spending some quality time with them and being present. Afterall our children are our future... lets share the love and not the worry
17.01.2022 Dear Families, Due to government requirements surrounding COVID-19, our swim school is now closed until further notice. At this stage, no date has been provided as to when we will reopen, however when the government has made this decision, you will be the first to know. We will miss seeing the adorable, smiling faces of our little JUMP!ers. However, were getting to work to have water safety resources, so the importance of learning water safety skills is not lost at this t...ime, as well as some fitness options for all members of the family during this period when activity related businesses like ours are restricted. We will communicate further information about this initiative soon. Please continue to keep an eye on your inbox for further ongoing information from us, and rest assured we will continue to update you, as any further government decisions are announced. Thank you all for your valued support to date. It is a really difficult day for our business today but we are committed to playing our part in halting the spread of Coronavirus. See more

16.01.2022 This covid-19 pandemic has no doubt changed everyones life and whether we realised it or not, this is particularly harder for children to understand the drastic changes that are happening around them. Their routine has been turned into chaos and this might lead to stress to some children. Not all children and teens respond to stress in the same way. Watch for some common changes in their behaviour such as: Excessive crying or irritation in younger children.... Returning to behaviors they have outgrown (for example, toileting accidents or bed wetting). Excessive worry or sadness. Unhealthy eating or sleeping habits. Irritability and acting out behaviors in teens. Poor school performance or avoiding school. Difficulties with attention and concentration. Avoidance of activities enjoyed in the past. Unexplained headaches or body pain. There are ways to support your children on how to cope with the stress: Talk with your child about the Covid-19 outbreak. Answer questions and share facts about COVID-19 in a way that your child can understand. Reassure your child that they are safe. Let them know it is okay if they feel upset. Share with them how you deal with your own stress so that they can learn from you how to cope with stress. Limit your familys exposure to news coverage of the event, including social media. Children may misinterpret what they hear and can be frightened about something they do not understand. Try to keep up with regular routines. If schools are closed, create a schedule for learning activities and relaxing or fun activities. Be a role model. Take breaks, get plenty of sleep, exercise, and eat well. Connect with your friends and family members. Spending time with your child in meaningful activities, reading together, exercising, playing board games. Children react in part on what they see from the adults around them. When parents and caregivers deal with the COVID-19 calmly and confidently, they can provide the best support for their children. Parents can be more reassuring to others around them, especially children, if they are better prepared. Stay safe everyone
12.01.2022 Bath time is your little ones first introduction to water. Taking the time to build their water confidence by gently pouring water over your childs shoulders, head, and ears, while practicing kicking legs turns bath time into an informal swimming lesson! Complement this with a JUMP! swimming lesson & your little one is well on the way to developing a love of water for life. Check out our swimming levels, starting from tiny tots as young as 3 months old https://jumpswimschools.com.au/swimming-lessons/
12.01.2022 CHALLENGE: Gratitude is an important thing. At bedtime, have your child tell you three things that they are thankful for. Try to encourage them to name things where money isnt involved. Some examples may include: family and family members, pets, health, happiness, parks, oceans, nature, rain, water, food, home etc.

09.01.2022 Miss Sue is saying Hi to all our Jump superstars! Shes been missing teaching you all and cant wait to get back in the pool!
09.01.2022 Re-Opening Update We are in very difficult times and appreciate your patience, understanding and support. Its been just over 10 weeks since we were advised to suspended all lessons in line with COVID-19 restrictions.... Safety and well being for your family and our staff are of great importance to us during our consideration to re-open. Last night we received information from head office with information from the Victorian Government regarding the easing of restrictions in Stage 2 with 20 patrons in our centre but with max 3 in each lane with 1.5 distances in relation to a minimum of one person per 4m2. We would only be able to run one class at a time and those class numbers are capped and are restricted meaning not all levels are sortable. Classes are to be run with very strict guidelines in place with less contact with teachers. These guidelines also means that our our shower and change room facilities would NOT be allowed to be used. Therefore after considering all this, we feel these conditions do not allow us to provide you with the exceptional service and care within our facility that we normally can give and this is not beneficial to our staff and families who deserve the very best. So we will be delaying our opening until we are able to facilitate our families in Stage 3 when we can give our full service to you all. We know this is very disappointing for everyone, we miss seeing all of our families and teaching your little ones water safety but we feel this is the safest and best decision for all moving forward coming into our colder months. We will keep you up to date with all information as we are informed and hopefully we will see you all soon. Niya And JUMP! Carrum Downs Team
09.01.2022 Heres a question for the kids; if you could join the circus what would your talent be? This week, host your own at home circus! Magic tricks and talent shows!
06.01.2022 We hope you all enjoyed the easing of restrictions over the weekend & were able to see some beloved family & friends! Were still missing you all very much! While our swim school remains closed for the time being, well continue to monitor the guidelines as we move though the stages of restrictions. Were doing everything we can so that as soon as we get the go ahead, well be ready to welcome your family back to the pool
05.01.2022 Everyone loves a good pool game! 04.01.2022 Children learn in different ways and our job as adults is to figure out how they learn. This is why here at Jump! Carrum Downs we have different ways of communicating to our little swimmers, we do auditory which is verbal communications, auditory and visual communications, and kinesthetic which is hand and body manipulations. We will keep looking for different ways to ensure all our little swimmers are progressing and learning every step of the way no matter how small it is. We miss all our little swimmers, hope to see you all again soon
04.01.2022 Miss K missing her students!
03.01.2022 This week, were going under the sea on the Home Fitness Network! We will try and upload fun activities to keep the little ones busy with our under the sea themed colouring sheet, maze and find-a-word. You may even want to join in! 03.01.2022 REOPENING IN JULY!!! Some of you may have received a call from us informing about our plans on reopening soon. Do not worry if you have not heard from us - we are contacting each and every family one by one to give you all the details and discuss class options. You will hear from us soon. The only reason we are not announcing a date yet is because of the changing regulations from the government. But we are well on our way building our time table and locking in the spots so we are ready when the time is right to open the doors!
03.01.2022 Twinkle, Twinkle (On Mat) We first introduce our babies to the concept of back floating in our Duckling class. During the activity Twinkle, Twinkle (On Mat) the babies are placed on their backs on the floating mat and the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is sung while the babies look up at mirrors, toys, or their parents performing the twinkle action. The outcome of this activity is for babies to achieve self-awareness in the water and is an introduction to independent buoyancy. It develops the babies confidence to float independently as they get older.
02.01.2022 Consistency is key when it comes to learning to swim. Studies have shown that children need to attend more frequent swimming lessons and practice in order to be able to swim at safe levels, above and beyond just summer or school holiday intensive lessons. At JUMP! our lessons run all year round, to ensure your little ones retain and develop their skills faster. Just keep swimming!
01.01.2022 Well... looks like this virus is just not giving up to keep haunting us... as you would have already seen Dan Andrews announcement today... we will need to postpone our opening date to mid of August Once again we would like to thank all our Jump! Carrum Downs families for your patience and understanding during this difficult time... More information will follow... Please stay safe!
