24.01.2022 We’re open today until 5pm!

24.01.2022 At Junction records we like both kinds of music; vinyl AND compact discs. Some may have noticed we've recently decreased our CD selection. We're not phasing out CDs, just simply curating a rock solid selection of killer titles across all genres so that you don't have to flick through Kamahl to get to The Kinks, or Leo Sayer to get to Slayer. You get the picture. Interesting article below about the decline of the disc and you can be sure we'll keep stocking the shiny round things which robbers used to break into your car to steal and then sell to Cashies.

21.01.2022 There’s never been a better time to dig in, get lost & find your jam!

20.01.2022 One of THE great drummers. Let’s help give him the send off he deserves.

19.01.2022 Undoubtedly Michael Gudinski’s greatest legacy is raising the awareness of Australian artists on the global stage. But in the process, he also made Australia a major tour destination for international artists. A true giant, and one that will be hugely missed. Vale!

18.01.2022 ** Update - SOLD and going to a good home ** The Record Store Day Australia fun continues all day today at Junction; 10% off new and 2nd hand vinyl (excluding RSD titles), 20% off all CDs and there’s still a few hot off the press tote bags, stickers and Junction Rag ‘zines. And if that wasn’t enough to tempt the senses, we were doing a spot of gardening this morning and unearthed this factory sealed 2017 super limited edition BLUE 3xLP pressing of Radiohead’s OK Computer (OKNOTOK) which we’d love to see go to a good home. PM for details.

13.01.2022 ‘Unity’ is Gordon Koang’s 11th album, and first since seeking asylum in Australia. Gordon celebrates his homeland of South Sudan with the use of traditional Nuer instruments and rhythms. But he also recognizes the country’s dark side. Over the galloping beats and jangly thom (a Sudanese string instrument), there are depictions of the harrowing reality of civil war. Despite the fact that it occasionally reflects on somber themes, ‘Unity’ ultimately points the listener in the direction of hope. In store now thanks to our friends at Music In Exile. Dig in!

11.01.2022 Super excited to be involved with this one. Grab tickets quick, cos word is they’re moving faster than Santa’s reindeer on Christmas night!

11.01.2022 Big love and respect to Bunny Wailer. A titan of Jamaican culture, Bunny was a key figure in helping Bob Marley establish The Wailers as world-beating trailblazers of reggae music and, as such, ushering in a new global consciousness. He also contributed the title track to ‘Rockers’ - the 1978 film chronicling the tough realities of Kingston’s music scene, that is absolutely essential viewing for music lovers everywhere. We’re stocking both the film and the soundtrack, and can’t recommend them highly enough. Vale!

05.01.2022 Rachael Dease's dark and ethereal new album ‘Hymns for End Times’ is a hypnotic meditation on the spectre of human-made catastrophe, juxtaposed against the hope borne from a mother’s unconditional love. It’s a beautiful record, and one you don’t want to miss. In store now!

02.01.2022 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: It’s come to our attention that we’ve had a few records shoplifted in the last couple of days. We understand that records can be expensive, and that you can’t place a monetary value on the music you love. All we ask is that you consider buying a record as an investment in faith - not just in the artist and grooves themselves, but also in the larger community banding together to deliver the thrill, joy, and permanence of the hallowed artefact into your hands, onto your turntable, and (hopefully) into your heart. If you discover a must-have amongst your crate-digging at Junction that is a little out of your budget, please speak to one of the friendly guys behind the counter. We’re more than happy to work out an arrangement to ensure you get the music you need! Thanks gang x
