24.01.2022 Well, we’ve moved! 106 Lorne Street is officially the headquarters of the Junee Community Centre. The priority this morning was to get Jacqui (left) set up so she could keep the engine running while Emma (right) directed moving operations. Over the next little while we’ll be unpacking, planting up the vege beds and enjoying our grand new space. Please pop in and say hello. (Entry off Belmore Street)

20.01.2022 Welcome to 2020. our first outing didn't take us anywhere but home we really need to appreciate what we have here in Junee. We visited the Junee roundhouse with our fabulous tour guide Robert. The majority of our clients that were with us today had a good history with the railway with dad's or husbands working on the railway here in Junee. A lot of memories. They could tell us youngsters what happened back in the day. Then we went to merv's bar for lunch and reminisced of times gone by.

18.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - Preparing for home isolation There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Murrumbidgee Local Health District. One of th...e responses recommended for managing the COVID-19 pandemic is home isolation. Whether this is mandatory or by choice, it is a concept that’s unfamiliar to most people and can be disturbing, particularly for young children. Here are some practical tips to help people cope: Talk to your family about COVID-19 and ensure your discussion is based on fact. Find accurate, up to date information on the NSW Health Website https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//dise/Pages/coronavirus.aspx Maintain your normal daily routine as much as possible Make arrangements with your employer to work from home, if possible Young children feel the impacts too provide reassurance using age-appropriate language and keep them busy. Check online sites for activity suggestions; there are dozens of options: from treasure hunts around the house and backyard to musical chairs, craft activities, baking, painting, and gardening. Ask your child’s school to supply lesson information and homework by email Use telephone, email or social media to keep in touch with friends and family Exercise regularly at home, it’s a proven treatment for stress and depression Ask friends and family for assistance to pick up your groceries and medicines for you. If this is not possible, you may be able to order groceries and medicines (including prescription medicines) online or by telephone. Think about how you have coped with difficult situations in the past and reassure yourself that you will cope with this situation too. Remember that the isolation period won’t last for long. Remember to stick to the basics and stay as healthy as possible. This may possibly reduce the severity or duration of any infectious diseases we may encounter: Nutrition eat a healthy balanced diet Physical Activity stay active. Options could include exercise DVDs, dancing, floor exercises, yoga, walking around the backyard or using home exercise equipment, such as a stationary bicycle, if you have it. Sleep 8 hours for adults and more for children Screens no more than 2 hours a day for recreation. Some people may feel distressed, lonely or overwhelmed by the isolation, especially with the blanket media coverage about the pandemic. If you are or someone you know is feeling anxious or distressed and need to contact someone urgently, please call our AccessLine on 1800 800 944. Alternatively you can call Lifeline on 131114. For those members of the public not in isolation, we ask them to remain calm and be vigilant in their hand hygiene and practice social distancing. Follow the advice given by NSW Health authorities and stay up to date with what’s going on the website at: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//dise/Pages/coronavirus.aspx

17.01.2022 This is Charlie. Some of you may know him. He is an affectionate and much loved pet whose elderly owner has moved into long-term care. We’re not sure how old Charlie is but we do know he is definitely an indoor dog who loves people and other dogs. We took him on a visit to meet some horses, sheep, chickens and alpacas and he didn’t display any tendency to want to round them up or chase them. We’re not sure what he’s like with cats but we suspect he would be fine. Charlie needs a forever home. If you believe you are the right person to adopt Charlie or if you know someone that would be, please send us a message and share this post. Thank you.
