25.01.2022 Day 7 with zac was supposed to be a lay day, recharge the batteries and mine sure did need recharging !By 2 pm Zac was recharged enough and went for a walk down the back creek,Jonsey had made mention that there was some freshwater barra around.Enough said!No barra only a couple of tarpon on the miniscule,Zac assured the one hooked near the eye didn't take any damage and swam of ok.Not sure what's happening tomorrow the wind will decided, fresh or salt.

25.01.2022 Jonsey and I shot out this morning and what a gorgeous morning it was.The plan was to chase chrome.we found them ok but they didn't want to stay hooked.Jonsey dropped one and I two.one was a horse, went for the lure that hard that it shot out of the water at least 1.8m's and of course spat the lure! I did manage to land a 60 +keeper that saved the boat from a donut.Jonsey was using his own C.J lure and I was using the ever reliable LJ shad in NG Rosewood. The interesting thing was the pikey bream were everywhere attacking lures with gusto albeit 2 sizes to big.to top the morning of a massive groper came up to the boat to say g/day.

25.01.2022 Loading up the Lux and locking the lure shed as we are of to Cairns First Light tomorrow. We will be setting the pop-up stall at Earlville somewhere between Coles and Woolworths we will be set up for 5 days basically until Xmas eve. I will have all the semi-nudes with us' the nude poppers have already gone south of the border. There will be some nudes on special for those looking for something special as a gift. Come on down and say G/day

25.01.2022 Stockland, Earlville all this week.

24.01.2022 Day 3 with Zac:Got talked into fishing the saltwater end of Sunday Creek! The salt didn't fish well either so moved on into benjamin flats found some chrome and a couple of red dogs but couldn't stay connected. So a couple of cod and a baby Gt was us for the day.The cod wasn't a bad size 42cm. the wind looks like its dropping so of to the channel tomorrow.Stayed with the NG Rosewood LJ Shad starting to get a bit battered but still catching fish.

23.01.2022 No donuts today but didn't exactly set the world alight.Fishing was still hard, tough when you see barra swimming around but not interested in lures.made another donation to the hinchinbrook lure fund, another NG rosewood courtesy of a nice jack.Hopefully things will change as we will be able to fish the run in at some local creeks. We bailed at about 11 am just as the N/Easterly was building up.Always a bonus.

23.01.2022 Come on down to the Xmas fair, plenty of other stalls as well as the travelling lure show.Today only 8.30-2pm.

22.01.2022 day 6 fishing with Zac today; It was a difficult day to fish, wind was swirling around and following us as were other boats,of which there was quite a few around.Zac found some chrome early but they were hard to find and hang onto when found. The tide was ripping out and we decide to get right back in the flats out of the wind and fish some skinny water. At this stage Zac decides he's going to fish with "silly string"so into my tackle box he goes and pulls out a miniscule which was working real well until some big and toothy decide he liked it also next came a little D which went the same way.At this stage I was happy for him to put the frog popper on! I have to say I have never had so much fun catching by-catch,even tho I was the designated driver I was great to see the fish grab my lures. The miniscule got the seal of approval from Zac.

22.01.2022 A big weekend in Cairns,6 and 7th at Stocklands Earlville at our usual spot. Then Sunday the 8th at the Fred Moule Pavilion,at the showgrounds for the Xmas Fair. These semi-nudes in Qld raintree plus a few NG Rosewood are heading to a tackle box south of the border. plenty of other nudes and painted lures for sale. C Ya there.

21.01.2022 Fished out of Fishers today no wind and very few fish!DL's time for the donut today.some beautiful country early just the one landed ,dropped a few rolled a few.we will return.

20.01.2022 a Big shout of thanks for everybody who turned up to buy lures, have a chat, get some info, all in all good fun.A bit hot at the pavilion but nobody was deterred we even remembered to bring the fan. Ran out of poppers except the monsters but will have some ready for the 6th Dec,something a bit different. C ya all then.

19.01.2022 Today we fished a creek that I don't fish a lot and after today I know why!All the fish had lock-jaw.And to top it of we were locked in by the tide!Chrome! we saw brief glimpse of it as the rolled on the lure but not interested, the only chrome we landed was another good archer-fish.A small jack and a couple of cod was my contribution but DL did get a PB on a nice pikey bream at 30cm, he was a good size. A bonus was that I got to see where the channel was close up,not that I intend to fish it much. heading for the main channel tomorrow for a half day run out tide.

18.01.2022 Flew out for a quick flick this morning,SW winds put a dampener on it but 3 barra and a pikey in a couple of hours worth the effort.DL's mid shad in green was going ok I stayed with the LJS in NG Rosewood.

18.01.2022 A late start today due to no water at hinchy boat ramp so we shot up to Fishers to avoid the NE wind which as due to arrive about lunch time .We fished the incoming tide chasing jacks but found some chrome which was a nice change,we fished for about 4 hours which was enough as it was hot and windy.back to an early start tomorrow,Andrew was fishing with a bit of pink plastic with no success only a cod, rest assured he has been fitted up with the right lure and we should see some changes tomorrow.

17.01.2022 The wind had abated and allowed us to fish out of the Port,it looked good early clean water no wind.Got dusted of by some big jacks.made a lure donation to the Hinchinbrook Island lure fund! Then the SW winds arrived and dirtying up the water so all downhill from there. But only a solitary cod saved today's donut but the weather and tides are on the improve. Look out tomorrow!

17.01.2022 Jonsey and I decided to vibe the inshore wrecks and sand bars as the tide was small, as was our window to get back in .But wind was down and I needed to catch a fish. The wrecks were producing under size nannygai and small cod on a prawn floated down I stayed with the vibes..we fished these for a while then downsized he vibes and flicked over the sand bars and run off but couldn't find anything so we pulled the pin at 9.30am and only just got into the ramp. Still it was a great morning.

16.01.2022 El rancho relaxo is open again with David and Cate Love visiting. On the water today after a late start and just snuck out with enough water.I expect there is going to be plenty of "hot air around" about the canal dredging but it needs to be done if Cardwell is going to prosper. We didn't go far up to a creek as they were draining out also.First cast was a monster Archer fish so it was looking ok.I always reckon if the Archer fish are on the chew barra will be also and that was the case!Landed 6 lost a couple and rolled plenty.Jacks were hard to find but Dl finished the day on high with a useful fingermark.Finished by 1.30 missed the NE afternoon wind and home in time to have enough time to fit the new sounder. The gun lure for the day was the Little JS in NG Rosewood with DL fishing with a LJS in Silky oak. Back into it tomorrow!

16.01.2022 Glassed out in the morning poked our nose out of the local creek and they were standing up 1m. No worries the poly handled that little bit of chop.Fished the run and it was running in quick,Jacks were about we both dropped a few only the one barra and a GT we found chopping up bait .Shrek asked me not to mention the catfish he landed so I won't!So it was an early minute for us bigger last day tomorrow.

16.01.2022 I'll leave this right here for today!

15.01.2022 Another short 4 hour fish this morning, fishing was going great till the SW wind turned up.Still 4 barra (not big around 50+cm)plus some by-catch gt's ,pikey bream wasn't to bad.beat the Neasterly home and missed the log jam at the ramp. Next!

15.01.2022 something different from the lure shed

14.01.2022 Weather was still holding so it was off to jack central today. And they were on the chew plenty of small ones but some nice ones amongst them at 40+cm.A few cod amongst them best was 42cm.Barra ? well they got the best of us I dropped 4 keepers one a nice fish and DL dropped a couple. You get that barra fishing! same lures doing the damage semi-nudes.NG rosewood and silky oak. back into it again tomorrow not sure where yet.

14.01.2022 Rain and humidity has shut the painting down but the machine side has been operating in the cool. Sold out of poppers over Xmas so took the opportunity to get stuck into lathe work, Maple, NG Rosewood and a couple of Silky Oak in there, a bit of tiding up to do ready for sealing. Going out of Friday with Jonsey to see what feeding in the runoff drains.

13.01.2022 A big shout of thanks for everybody who bought lures or stopped for a chat yesterday at Earlville The wind was lure friendly this morning so Jonsey and I shot up the channel for a flick.Turned out to be a magic morning wind wise and fish wise with barra and jacks on the chew.About the 1st or 2nd cast we were both on and landed a double header of a jack and a cod,a very good start. Jonsey got the honours for the biggest barra with a nice fish of 60+cm my best was around 45 but had a nice jack of 40cm to my credits. we fished hard for 4 hrs and landed a dozen fish with only a couple of bycatch (a big cattie by yours truly)amongst them.We were both fishing semi-nudes Jonsey one of his C.J lures in Raintree and I was sticking to the NG Rosewood LJ shad. next!

12.01.2022 Day 2 : Zac found Sunday creek a bit slow, might be something to do with the 2.5m saltie that has taken up residence near the waterfall. But if you want big Jp's that's where they live, getting 2 on the one popper is a big effect (one was 370mm).It's interesting that Zac prefers the old style poppers, they just keep producing. Some really nice pics again today,no walking tomorrow we are out in the boat chasing jacks. I have put up a picture of the creek at moment just a bit low.

12.01.2022 Day 4 with Zac; He had been keen to flick some plastic frog poppers,my thoughts on plastic is it is good for wrapping timber lures in.They might be weedless but they are certainly not mangrove root free!Spent most of the day driving and extracting said frogs.Well thats my tour of duty its game on from now on!As with all top water fishing the take is exciting a couple of jacks and barra plus the usual cod.A plate size Gt saved me from a donut but I did get monstered by a big jack and dropped a small barra.I will return. On our way home to the fishers creek boat ramp spotted a good size croc,on a bank we had just fished! You get that in the tropics. even tho it was a tough day(wind up to 20 knots)it was good to see zac having fun with the plastics.

11.01.2022 we will be setting up the lure stall at Stocklands Earlville(cairns) tomorrow opposite Coles.Lot of goodies for that special Father.Come on down and say G/day. C Ya there.

11.01.2022 Day 5 Zac on his lonesome:Stayed home today due to a prior commitment and Zac was keen to fish the bay,passed(15-20 knots) in a wet tinnie. not for me. He was home early and did mention it was a bit wet for an old fella going over there. So the pics are all zac's work, best jack 40cm and the barra was around the 50cm. Gloves are over tomorrow, not driving the electric just fishing and the point system works like this:+3 pts for a barra or jack ,+1 pt for by-catch cod etc and -1 if you get snagged and we have to go in and retrieve the lure. Look Out!

11.01.2022 Well the plan was to head up to Fishers creek and fish out of the wind. That fell by the wayside as the channel was flat so we put in at Hinchy.Willyweather had it wrong all week, what's another day, well for once they had it right!By 9am it was getting nasty,it looked like it was going to be a good day's fishing!DL first cast a 55cm rock flathead, they are so prehistoric,After that it was all down hill.So we baled early and worked on the poly. def Fishers for us tomorrow !

10.01.2022 I made a few of these for our fathers day stall,16 and 24 grams with quality hooks.Jonsey and I have good success with them chasing finger mark and nannygai.they will be on special.

10.01.2022 Well that's it for Shrek for this year not the best week of fishing but we had fun.Today was no different today just hard work.We opted to fish out of Fishers creek again as the NE winds were getting high in the arvo, proved to be the right choice as we were able to fish in comfort for all of our time there.Found some jacks early in the run in but only could get a quick snap before it to jumped of.The rest were to quick to get to the safety of the mangrove system. The cod father was at his best today having fun with the useful size cod. Thanks for staying Shrek and for all the repairs etc we accomplished.

10.01.2022 El Rancho Relaxo is now officially open with Zac Fleischer first cab of the rank.he fished the upper reaches of Meunga creek which runs past our house.I gave him a proto that I wanted given a good run,the review was a great lure but the stinger wasn't need and to go back to a treble. So here's the first of the pics for day 1.some really nice jungle perch ,he did get plenty of small sooties but they missed out.

10.01.2022 Day 8 Zac on his lonesome again;Well he was refreshed' wanted to drag me on a 12k round trip up to the Sunday creek hinterlands!Pass 0n that, remedial lure sanding for me.I have waded through about 128 pics saved some to other folders(scenery)probably put some on my own page. Some nice JP's on the miniscule and he can't help himself he has to drag out that old blue popper.so here are the best of them. Only a half day tomorrow as Zac is of to terrorize Port Douglas.Hopefully the wind is down so we can chase some chrome.

09.01.2022 Went for a quick flick today with my mate good BM,a bit to much water between them and us .A good sized cod stopped the donut but was in connection with a nice bit of chrome when it decided it wanted to go back in the snag, couldn't stop it so the end result was pulled hooks. I'll be back ! We will be setting the pop up stall at Earlville Cairns saturday 6th dec.

08.01.2022 A big shout of thanks for everybody who bought lures, made the time to stop for a chat. Good to see the pictures of fish with a Jungle Lure hanging of them. Probably going to take me some time to load up the store but there will be some barra lures for the season opening .Once more Thank you for the support! More fishing less lure making this coming new year. Have a real nice day and don't forget "Fish Hard"

06.01.2022 Back to Fishers today and what a beautiful day,the water was clear and no wind and some barra came to the party. No big fish around 50-56 cm and in very good condition thick as and fought like hell!Back at the boat ramp for 12, no drama, no mud, no log jam, going to spend more time at Fisher's! Semi-nudes were still the go DL had gone back to the silky oak and no change for me,I'll get a few more casts out of the NG Rosewood. Taking DL to meunga creek for a look and a quick flick with Jonesy then home to prep for the traditional fish nite at Jimbo's.

04.01.2022 an early start or us today beat the rush and the mud at the ramp(not so coming home!).The change of lures helped Andrew who was casting better by 100% a must fishing in and around the mangroves.I fitted him up with a mid shad same bling as mine, sorry for the confusion. Both of us found the barra but couldn't hold on,Andrew lost a particularly good fish as he couldn't stop its power run to the timber,me obviously not holding my mouth right as dropped 2 nice fish. The variety of fish was excellent this morning, jacks ,cod, barra, grunter, and even I had to own up to hooking some big catfish. We probably stayed in the creek a bit to long as the NE was just starting to blow. A great mornings entertainment.

03.01.2022 Come on down day 2 of the Cairns travelling lure show .still set up next to Optus on the ramp.barra are of the menu but plenty of Jack lures. The LJS in NG Rosewood been doing the damage last month of so.

03.01.2022 back on the water today and tomorrow fishing with Andrew Marshal; then of to Cairns (24th) where we will be setting out stall up at Stocklands. We will be opposite Coles.I will be bringing some of these semi-nudes that have been working so well in the last 4 weeks or so. Come on down and say G/day

02.01.2022 Sunday Morning in the Fred Moule Pavilion, Cairns Showgrounds, for the xmas fair, great market, great coffee. Come down.

01.01.2022 Jonsey and I went out chasing fish for the table but it ended up a sportfishing morning! Two 60+ barra and a good size tarpon on live garfish. It was really hot and humid as the build up is getting really serious here, bring it on!
