This isn't a good way of doing it as it doesn't get all the oil out and will still be left with old oil for years. That method is just a quick way of most mechanic shops to earn quick money for less work, whereas the old fashioned method, you drain the oil from underneath allowing all the oil to pour out giving the oil tank and filter the best way to be emptied effectively and efficiently.
