25.01.2022 Queanbeyan under 18s returned to Duncan Fields in Googong to finish their round 5 match on Sunday. The match was evenly poised with Ginninderra on 6/122 to Queanbeyan 5/118. Akash Kumar and Petre returned to the crease and after sensibly getting their eye in put together one of the best partnerships you would ever see taking the score to 228, a partnership of 138, when Petre Petreski was dismissed for a career best of 82 off 76 balls (15 fours and a six). Akash was soon to f...ollow, out for 61, almost batting the entire innings. Emerson Jolliffe didn’t want to miss out, scoring a quick fire 36 off just 20 balls to set a formidable total of 285 after 50 overs. Ginninderra batting second needed a miracle. They were met with some tight bowling from Manav and Ruben. Despite the tight bowling they could not get the break though until the 33rd over when Ruben was rewarded with his first wicket. He backed this up with another wicket in his next over. And then it was over before you could blink. Luke, bowling his first over of the season picked up the final two wickets to finish with the amazing figures of 2/1 off 1 over. Ruben finished with 2/15 off 8 overs, Manav 2/22 off 9 overs and Blake was not required, but finished with 2/9 off 4 overs. Ginninderra all out in 36 overs for 157. Queanbeyan winning by a massive 128 runs. They sit 2nd on the ladder with two matches to go.

24.01.2022 Under 18s celebrating after their grand final victory against Eastlake.

24.01.2022 Under 18s turned up to Googong to complete their 2-day game against Marist. Marist were slow and steady with their batting posting 2/103 after 25 overs. Leo Hunter then dominated the Marist attack to be 132 not out at the half way mark and team was 2/201, a dominant position. Leo continued his innings today and was retired for 150 off just 108 balls. His innings included a massive 20 fours and 6 sixes. Before this he had never hit a six in junior cricket. Others to cash in w...ere Petre Petreski, scoring his second 50 of the season, 64 not out and Angus Knox, who was first out last week for 37. Queanbeyan set Marist 330 for victory. Marist started well, but they were never going to reach the formidable target. Petre was the pick of the bowlers with 4/28 off 7 overs. Manav 2/27 off 10 and Jack Reed 2/32 were also both handy contributors. Marist were all out in the 2nd last over for 189. A win against Ginninderra next match will cement a place in the final. Ginninderra did well to be beat the top side Eastlake by 2 wickets today to set up a virtual semi final next week, although Ginninderra would have to win handsomely to make the final against Eastlake.

22.01.2022 Well done Harry and Fraser, Harry 59 not out and Fraser 90 not out, putting on a partnership of 124 in the last 10 overs against Tuggeranong this morning.

21.01.2022 Queanbeyan under 18s travelled to Melba to take on Ginninderra in the last two day game of the regular season. Winning the toss, Captain Angus Knox sent Ginninderra in to bat. There was heavy due on the grass and the medium pacers found it difficult to control the wet ball. The Ginninderra openers controlled the game scoring at 5.5 per over until a break through in the 15th over when Manav took a catch on the mid wicket boundary off the leg spin of Leo Hunter when the score... was on 82. Their number 3 batsmen soon followed in similar fashion being caught at mid wicket by Leo off his brother Max’s bowling. Ginninderra consolidated to be 2/142 at the half way point. Openers Angus Knox and Jackson Miller started confidently against very tight bowling. They got a little bogged down scoring at 3.5 runs per over after 10 overs. Then a mini collapse: first to go was Jackson caught at cover for 27, then Luke was adjudged LBW for a duck, followed by Angus for 6 to a feather to the keeper. The Bluebaggers were looking in trouble at 3/36. You think that would have meant taking stock and playing a bit defensive, but Matt Oliver-Rutter was having none of that. He went on to smash 45 off just 22 balls with four 6s and three 4s before being caught. With help from Leo he took the score to 4/97. Brothers Leo and Max needed to stop the flow of wickets, but it wasn’t long before there was a mix up and Max was out for 4. Leo was next to go for 23 with the score of 5/114 in the 20th over. Emerson Joliffe took a leaf out of Matt’s book and started clubbing anything loose. He was out in the last over for an entertaining 26 off 17 balls. Jack Reed and Manav remain the not out batsmen on 9 and 2 respectively. The score was a sizeable 150 (8 runs a head), but with only 3 wickets in hand, heroics will be needed next week to win the game.

20.01.2022 Well done to Harry Devine and Fraser O’Rourke this morning in the u13s Div 1 game vs Tuggeranong. They both retired after their 25 balls, putting on a partnership of 60. They both then came back into bat, with 12 overs still to go and 7 wickets down. They proceeded to put on a partnership of 124 with Fraser hitting 90 not out off 58 balls and Harry not out 59 off 51. Well done boys, it was amazing to watch.

13.01.2022 A day of action in the under 18s, a real nail biter.

12.01.2022 With mother nature not playing nice on Saturday, not a ball was bowled, leaving the under 18s to fight out a 30 over game on the Sunday for the two-day premiership. Eastlake had the wood on Queanbeyan in the only two encounters during the season, so they knew it would be tough especially with Luke Harris sidelined with a broken toe. Winning the toss, captain Angus Knox decided to bat. Bowling was tight and scoring was slow until Angus was skittled for 2. Matt Oliver-Rutter ...Continue reading

02.01.2022 An inspirational speech from the captain.

02.01.2022 The under 18s were back to Melba to finish the final round game against Ginninderra. Seemingly in a spot bother 8 runs up, but 7 down compared to Ginnindera’s 2, big things were needed. After play was delayed due to three hot air balloons landing on the field, Queanbeyan were into bat. Jack Reed was out first over. Petre Petreski with Manav put together an excellent partnership to make a game of it. With the outfield very slow, running between the wickets was the key and th...ey did it to perfection until they both were run out within a few balls of each other with about 5 overs to go. They had partnership of 76, Petre scoring 34 and Manav 30. Ginninderra needed 86 more runs to win with 8 wickets in hand. Emerson and Manav bowled fast and accurate until Manav had their top batter out in the 32nd over. The run rate was slow but enough for Ginninderra to win as long as they held on to wickets. Petre took a wicket of a slower ball and Reuben skittled another batsmen. With 5 overs to go they needed 27 runs with 5 wickets in hand. It was a real nail biter. Blake, who hadn’t bowled all match came on and was immediately successful, bowling a beautiful yorker. With only a run a ball needed it was important to stop the singles and the field came in. A wicket to Jack Reed coming on for just one over. Manav was to bowl the last over with Ginninderra 7 down and only 4 runs to win. With 3 balls to go, they needed just 2. Reuben took a blinder at short mid off and Manav effected a sharp run out fielding the ball in this follow through at the bowler’s end. Two needed off the last ball. Swing and a miss. Angus gloved cleanly at wicket keeper and ran to dislodge the bails as they scampered through for a run. Decision was not out, although if there was a review it would certainly have been used. A tie, enough to see under 18s through to the final next week against Eastlake.

02.01.2022 A fantastic turn out for the junior Christmas cricket clinic. The boys and girls are having lots of fun using the excellent facilities at the Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre. Well done to Leo Hunter and Harr O’Rourke for providing great coaching support to Michael O’Rourke.
