22.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE. Powerful letter of concern from Jurien Marine Supplies regarding the State government's unprecedented lobster plan and how it is already affecting... local businesses and jobs: 'Since the announcement we have noticed a significant reduction in business activity from our professional clients. Compared to previous years the number of orders has reduced, the number of quote requests has reduced and we have even had some orders put on hold/cancelled. The fishermen that we have spoken to are telling us that they are uncertain of their future and have lost confidence in their fishery. As a result they are cutting back on their spending until they can see that their livelihoods are sustainable. What the Minister doesn’t realise is that his decision not only affects the licence holders, it has a direct impact on all the businesses that support the industry. We are now extremely worried about the future and unless our orders return we will no choice but to lay our staff off again. The Minister hopes to make 500 new jobs with his announcement but how many will be lost from the businesses that currently support the industry?' Read the full letter here: http://bit.ly/2FnZEje

16.01.2022 From 1 January, 2021 AMSA will be enforcing the requirement to have a float-free EPIRB on certain types of commercial vessels. It can take time for a beacon to be delivered and properly installed. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

05.01.2022 The deadline for certain domestic commercial vessels to carry float-free EPIRBs is approaching. If you operate a vessel within a category below, you'll need to ...carry a float-free EPIRB from 1 January 2021. There have been a series of tragic events in recent years involving fishing vessels which capsized in Australian waters so quickly that crew were unable to locate and manually activate their EPIRBs in time, delaying search and rescue efforts. Float-free EPIRBs perform two important functions. 1. they automatically disconnect from the vessel and float free, and 2, they automatically switch on and start to transmit a distress signal. Now is the time to act - don't leave it to the last minute. For more info, visit our website: http://ow.ly/14Ka50zCmxx

03.01.2022 All in a days work. This came off 12 pots today, of which only 3 had the decency to give us a warning. For those Fishermen who don't seem to know how to fish n...ext to pots without snagging up on them, try and imagine this flying around a winch at your head at about 30kmh. Surely you must have some remote intelligence to realise that unless you put something on our ropes or tie a knot in our rope that we have absolutley no warning whatsoever this is coming. It seems that not only do you not care about the trash you are putting in the ocean but more concerningly you dont seem to have regard for human life. Get an act. See more
