18.01.2022 Only 2 of us headed out for training on the trailwalker trail this week with the best wingman there is....Baumy We left later in the morning than usual but we had all day to get the legs going & soak up the views, & there was spectacular scenery along the way from FTG to Mt Evelyn. These 2 legs of the track are by far the worst! The 15km leg from Olinda to Mt Evelyn really played with our heads, it seemed so long! But we had a few distractions (Lyrebird, wallabies & baby Goanna's ) & a few bad jokes along the way........& we made it to Mt Evelyn, 25kms done! We are trying to raise money for poverty by walking 100kms in April, please help us by donating just a little Https: trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/27178
17.01.2022 We experienced our first night walk this week which seemed to go well. We headed off up the Lyrebird track and it wasn't too long before the darkness set in and we required our headlamps. This part of the trail is rated the most difficult because of the steep inclines and declines. It was probably good that our headlamps could only see a few feet in front of us, as we couldn't see how steep we were heading whether it was up or down, and we certainly worked up a sweat during it! We all felt good afterwards. Thanks to Richard & Luke who kept us safe! Only 32 days until the 100km! We are putting in the hard yards to get over the line, so please help us by donating just a little Https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/team/home/27178
15.01.2022 Today we saw the last of our training on the trail. Only a short 8km to ease us into the big 100km on Friday. We have taken a wrong turn on this section once before so we were confident this time.... we knew it well. Taylah & Em ran down it only 2 weeks ago!! Kylie was sceptical & couldn't remember it being so steep, Taylah couldn't believe her & Em didn't fall over when they ran it! But according to Taylah it was the right way.... there was only one way!! We get to the b...ottom of this God damn steep mountain & we all realise that we are on the wrong track!! ARGHH!! back up up up we go we could have poked her with our walking poles, but we need her to be uninjured for Friday We have only 5 days to go until we walk 100kms for OXFAM. PLEASE help us help them with world poverty. Https://Trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/27178 We would also like to THANK each & everyone of you that has made a donation big or small, you guys are the reason we are walking.

01.01.2022 This week was the test of the long walk. 3 legs to get through in hopefully 12 or so hours. We head off early from Mt Evelyn, it's cold & dark, we are all tired from being up so early, but we're going to be tired on the 100km so we just keep walking, after all that's what we're here for! Woori Yallock couldn't come soon enough for Taylah as she had been busting for the loo for the past 4km. (The Warburton Rail Trail has so many people using it....every time she snuck behind a... tree a bike would be seen coming along in the distance) So a toilet stop & a bite to eat we head back onto the trail towards Millgrove, it's stinking hot so a few shady tree stops we have along the way. This part of the track is flat & mostly boring. We arrive in Millgrove later than expected due to the heat so we have a rest with an icy pole & then get back to it. We need to finish before sunset. 35kms in & Kylie starts to get a sore foot, there's only 10km to the finish so she pushes on. Everyone is tired, hot & just want to get to the end. With 6km to go and the sun starting to go down, Kylie's foot is getting worse. It was the longest 6km ever! The headlamps came back out & we were again walking in darkness. So happy to see Richard (Em's Dad) at the end!! Chez & Kylie walked 45km & Taylah & Em walked 47.5km (Tay & Em walked back up a mountain to meet Kylie & Chez) We are tackling poverty the hard way.
