25.01.2022 Another share from Humans of Bikram Yoga Super Human: Keely From: Hamilton, New Zealand... Started practicing Bikram Yoga: 2013 at Hot Yoga Studio Hamilton Favourite posture: My favourite posture is Tulundasana - Balancing Stick Pose. I love how this posture tests your balance and alignment by stretching and pointing. T as in Tom. I always smile in this posture as it reminds me of my Dad Tom Why practice Bikram Yoga: I had been battling with severe anxiety and PTSD which led to health issues. On top of this, I had every phobia going. My worst being fearful of small spaces and crowds. People thought I was silly, I thought I was crazy. My mind and body were broken. My doctor suggested medication, a friend suggested Bikram Yoga. I turned up to my first class with an open mind and realised I had to face all my issues in one, and in 40 degree heat! It was extremely confronting. It was my worst nightmare. For months I would practise by the door, afraid someone was going to lock me in, scared there were too many people, angry if anyone practised close to me. I never looked in the mirror because I hated what I saw. For months I feared every second of every minute I stepped into that room. But I persisted. Then one day I heard the teachers words and another day I heard my own breath. Then one day I heard them together. It was then that I realised what I found was more than I could ever ask for. I opened up in more ways than words can express. It was then that I realised this yoga journey was life changing. I started challenging my inner thoughts, my fears, my existence! I realised with every deep exhale I was letting go of all those fears and anxieties. I’ve learnt to practice with the body I have today and that my yoga practice may not be yoga perfect but I show up on my mat and that’s perfect. I’ve learnt to love the skin I’m in and the person in the mirror. Bikram Yoga saved me, from myself. It has been my medicine. It challenged me and taught me how to heal from within. I thank and honour Bikram Yoga for every second of every minute I turn up on my mat, my divine intervention
23.01.2022 A monk decides to meditate alone. Away from his monastery, he takes a boat and goes to the middle of the lake, closes his eyes and begins to meditate. After a few hours of unperturbed silence, he suddenly feels the blow of another boat hitting his. With his eyes still closed, he feels his anger rising and, when he opens his eyes, he is ready to shout at the boatman who dared to disturb his meditation. But when he opened his eyes, he saw that it was an empty boat, not tied up, floating in the middle of the lake. At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization and understands that anger is within him; it simply needs to hit an external object to provoke it. After that, whenever he meets someone who irritates or provokes his anger, he remembers; the other person is just an empty boat. Anger is inside me. Thich Nhat Hanh
23.01.2022 This is so very true.
22.01.2022 There's a Zen quote that says, "We cannot see our reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see." The time spent in your yoga class is purely yours, your time, for you, about you, with you and by yourself. Having the cosmic mirror in front of you will tell you everything you need to know about yourself, whether you like it or not. And when you will see parts of yourself that you don't like, over and over and over again you will start to accept them ...as they are, maybe even change them but the acceptance will open doors to loving yourself for who you are, the way you are. Bikram Yoga teaches us self-acceptance, self-respect, self-care and most of all self-love Accept yourself and open up like a flower petal blooming.
20.01.2022 Super Human: Bob From: Portland, Oregon Started practicing Bikram Yoga: I took my first Bikram class in June 2013 at age 67 in West Lynn Oregon. My first class was my youngest daughter Gretchen’s first class as a certified Bikram Yoga teacher after she graduated in L.A.... Favourite Posture: I like Half-Moon back bend but my favorite is Full Locust. I spent 36 years in an office job, a lot of that time was spent over a desk and computer. My back really needs this. Yes it is still hard. Who doesn’t like Savasana? Why practice Bikram Yoga: I have a history of knee problems dating back to HS sport injuries and radical knee surgery in 1960-1962 (synovectomy and cartilage.) I have had limited range of motion for years since. I read Bikram’s book (at the request of my family) back in 2006 and after observing the postures and the rigorous routine, decided this is not for me. Both my daughters are now certified Bikram Yoga instructors and after attending my youngest’s graduation in 2013 I agreed to try. Best thing I have done for my life. Practicing now for 7 years I have greatly improved flexibility, strength and balance. I am almost 2 inches taller, have greater endurance, range of motion in my legs and my golf game has improved dramatically. I cannot do all of the postures to perfection but I try to do them (as much as I am able to, to the best of my ability) as the dialogue says 1% of the posture done correctly gives 100% benefits. This is as much for my mental faculties as my physical strength. Thank you Bikram and the marvellous instructors I have come to know, two very special ones.
19.01.2022 If you doubt you can do yoga because your believe you are too inflexible, believe you can be, see it in your minds eye and you will be able.

15.01.2022 When you move your body to it's full range of motion, when you supply fresh oxygen to every single cell in your body, when you turn and twist and stretch and compress and bend the body becomes the whole body becomes energized. Our body benefits from movement. Motion is lotion for our joints. An active body benefits the brain as well. 26&2 Hot Yoga can make you feel like you're on top of the world and like you can conquer any emotional, mental, psychological battles if you just show up and do what you can do with the body that you have on that day. Show up bored, show up tired, show up exhausted but show up. Be dedication to your well being. 26&2 Hot Yoga class is a gas station, you gain energy instead of losing energy."
15.01.2022 BREATHING THROUGH THE NOSE IMPROVES SOME MEMORY FUNCTIONS Let's start with something obvious: we can breathe through either the nose or the mouth. The air that goes into our lungs is the same both ways, but there are vastly different effects on our nervous system andaccording to new scienceour brain. A new study published in the Journal of Neuroscience showed that "memory significantly increased during nasal respiration compared to mouth respiration." Breathing through the ...nose stimulates the olfactory nerve at the top of the nasal cavity (pictured top). This nerve is linked directly to the brain. When processing smell, signals go through a specific smell-processing area called the piriform cortex on their way to the hippocampus (pictured bottom), the place for memory formation and consolidation. The study tested recall of a number of smells. The smells were given, then the participants "rested" while breathing through either their nose or mouth. During this time, the brain "consolidates" the smells into memory. Then their memory of the smells was tested, quizzing their "recognition". It was found that "breathing through the nose compared to the mouth during consolidation enhances recognition memory." The facilitators of the study were quick to qualify that this doesn't necessarily mean that breathing through the nose improves all memory or even all phases of the memory cycle. Through this experiment it only demonstrated that nose breathing improved the consolidation phase when remembering smell-related information. But they also stated that "core cognitive functions are modulated by the respiratory cycle." Which means that our brain is hugely impacted by how we breathe. Anyone who has practiced pranayama, which involves a lot of nasal breathing, has probably experienced its effects on the memory. It is almost ubiquitous that breathing practices bring up old memories and stimulate dreams of the past. Keep your eyes, ears and nose open for more news about this exciting branch of neuroscience! There are sure to be more developments as we understand the brain better. https://www.ghoshyoga.org//breathing-through-the-nose-impr
13.01.2022 Another amazing share. Bikram Yoga changes lives. Super Human: Tibi From: Caracas, Venezuela... Started practicing Bikram Yoga: May 2011 at Bikram Yoga Brickell, Miami Favorite posture: Camel Pose Why practice Bikram Yoga: When I started practicing Bikram Yoga, my body was weak, and I was dealing with depression. I used to take 12 pills a day, and in my first class, I felt that I almost died and at the same time a feeling of well-being that made me return daily to the hot room. After seven months of practice, I stopped taking pills, my mind and body were stronger, and I no longer felt pain. It was then when I decided to become a Bikram Yoga Teacher. I attended Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in the Spring of 2012, to be able to share this wonderful and healing practice. In October 2013, I opened my own studio Bikram Yoga Caracas, a 100% pure Bikram Yoga studio. I thank and honor Bikram Chaudhury for sharing his wisdom with so much love. Bikram Yoga saved my life.

10.01.2022 I read this on Humans of Bikram Yoga page and this is my story too, I hated it then loved it. I love how this story started with I hated it and ended with I love Bikram Yoga and try to get everyone I know to try it That’s the story of Bikram Yoga you start with a hate relationship and end up falling in love with it. Falling in love with Bikram Yoga simply means you’re falling in love with yourself.... Given dedication and patience, Bikram Yoga can truly change your mind. Not just that, it can also change your body, it can also change your life for the better. Beautiful story. Short and sweet.
