14.01.2022 Anyone looking to help wildlife after bushfires - here is a simple cheap way of getting water out for animals. We've been making these 'water fountains' to help... wildlife affected by drought at Arid Recovery. The can be made from equipment available in any hardware store. The key is to completely seal the top and bottom of the PVC tube with plumbers cement. This creates a vacuum that holds the water in the tube and limits evaporation. They last about a fortnight here in 40+ degree temps before they need to be refilled. Wherever possible, it's best to place the fountains amongst some shelter to reduce evaporation and give animals shelter from predators as they come in to drink.
