09.01.2022 So often these days we can default to deflection / blame shift mode, I couldn’t help that I had no choice the situation made me act that way this gives us a sense of loss of control over our thoughts and actions. Positive thinking is powerful thinking. What does this mean to you?... Most of the time people will read that as positive thoughts empowering and uplifting you, which is totally correct! But let’s take it further and consider how positive thinking can actually affect the physical structure of your brain! A lot of the time thoughts are almost pictured as a bit whimsical and intangible and therefor hard / impossible to have any sense of control over, but did you know that our brains physical structure can cause a bias towards whether we think / respond positively or negatively to situations depending on the strength of certain neural pathways? The reason why we can use positive thinking practices to change our brain is down to the neuroplastic abilities of the brain it is able to reorganize and form synaptic connections, you can literally use repetition of thought, actions, and feelings to strengthen neural pathways. So, in very simple terms, if you strengthen your positive pathways, they will more likely become the natural choice compared to the negative pathways, as they have been strengthened through repetition. In the same sense as training your muscles to lift more weights, you can train your brain to think and respond more positively. We are conditioned to be critical thinkers, and this can be a powerful tool if it is harnessed properly, as it can guide us to self-improvement as we become aware of areas that we could be better in. But that natural inclination to think negatively can so often contribute to many wide-spread issues, including simple self-doubt, paranoia, and over analysing of situations just to name a few. 05.01.2022 ARE REST DAYS GOOD FOR ME? YES! 100000000 times yes! But what we need to iron out here is what is deemed as a rest day. A lot of people adopt the approach of doing absolutely bugger all and sitting on the couch for the whole day.no. This is not what we mean, a rest day can include the following: Active recovery session through mobility / foam rolling... Moving in a way that is different to your training swimming, walking, cycling, roller skating etc etc. Yoga / light cardio day Benefits of recovery days: Improves your overall training performance and risk of over training I normally argue that most people actually under recover instead of overtraining! You will know when you are not recovering enough, when you hit a plateau or are finding that you are not able to complete sessions to an acceptable standard. Rest days are when your muscles grow! During training we generate microtears in our muscles, rest days allow your body to perform repair and growth processes, leaving you feeling ready to train and your body in a better position to perform at the level you need. Gives you the opportunity to prepare and practise mindfulness: Training / food prep can dominate peoples lives, and it is just as important to focus on getting that balance that means you can continue living a healthy lifestyle. Rest days are good to spend time with family and friends, prepare your meals / plan for the week ahead, and allocate that spare time to working on your mental strength instead of your physical strength #JustBeInspired

Fitness is SO broad, that you really can make it be whatever you want find something that you ENJOY and does not feel like a chore, and you will likely find better consistency and more success than if you hate every second of the process. Think outside of the box to find your ‘fitness’. #JustBeFit
