25.01.2022 We noted the recent passing of Patricia Martinson (nee Palmer) (HA# 89) aged 103! Proof that playing hockey helps your longevity! Here are some glimpses of Pats...y's life in hockey. Patsy was selected in two Blue Ribbon teams for Australia in 1936 and 1938. The Blue Ribbon team in 1936 included 5 super stars of Australian women’s hockey in that era May Campbell, Ena McRae, Connie Charlesworth, Merle Taylor and Mabel Cashmore all of whom are in the Hockey Australia Hall of Fame. The Blue Ribbon team was prestigious and was made up of the best players from the national championships. We would now describe it as a ’virtual’ team. It was created because the opportunity for international representation was rare as it was funded by the player themselves and leave from work difficult. Patsy is #89 in the final photo of a strong 1939 WA team. See more

20.01.2022 Oceania Hockey Federation's AGM was held online on May 28th. The Victorian Consumer Affairs gave OHF permission to conduct their AGM on-line and to override th...e constitution which states a Face to Face meeting. This was a novel way of running an AGM but under the unique conditions of COVID 19 it was the only way to manage an AGM which had to be held by the end of May. The meeting was well attended with delegates representing Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and Tonga.

11.01.2022 Hockey NSW would like to congratulate Life Members Pat McCabe and Bess Rosen on being recognised for services to hockey in the Queen's Birthday Honours List ove...r the weekend. Pat - who became a Life Member in 2010 - was awarded a Medal of the Order (OAM), while Bess - who became a Life Member in 1970 - was made a Member of the Order (AM). 11.01.2022 We are underway, The committee and the centre has been working hard over the past few months in getting plans in place for the season to start again. So lock in... the date, clean those shoes, dust off those hockey stick, we are ready to start the season on the 19th July, there will be a few restrictions in place you will be made aware of as we get closer. The season will be shorter and we are hopeful to have a draw out over the next couple of weeks. If you have not been contacted by your club give them a call and let them know your in. If you have any questions drop us a message and we will try o answer them. Looking forward to seeing everyone back on the field.
