23.01.2022 Why do we allow this to continue - Why do we put animals through this torture. Surely somewhere out there is a home with love for each one of these beautiful dogs. Look at their faces - NONE of them signed up for this NONE of them want to die. Please help

23.01.2022 HOPEFULLY HAVE THIS GIRL SORTED CARER NEEDED Rockhampton Region No thats not mud, this is Cushings Disease. Cushings is where the body produces too much ...cortisol. No, its not contagious. We are looking for a suitable carer in the Rockhampton area. Foster Carer will need to be able to get her our vet appointments and work with our vets and dog team on improving and maintaining her health. This is what we know about her: 7 year old Shepherd female. Fine with cats. Super gentle, lovely older girl. Fine with other quiet dogs. Housetrained and needs to sleep inside. We cover vet costs. If you can welcome this sweet girl into your home, please message us. If you are not in a position to foster then please share this post in the hopes we can find someone who can.

22.01.2022 It is time to ban 1080 far to many animals are dying in pain - This poison is NOT humane as the government would have us believe.

21.01.2022 Dear my colleagues, pet mums/dads and future pet mums/dads. I am not an animal activist. I am not brave enough to be outspoken like some of my friends are (surp...risingly). And if you know me I do not post personal emotional things publically very often. But i have to say something today. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. If you cannot take resposibility of your furry family (which could be 20 years or even more!) DO NOT GET THEM. And do not ask me to euthanase your dog/cat because you dont want them anymore. I will simply refuse. (Understand unavoidable situations do happen though - then have you thought about rehoming?) You dont deserve them and you dont deserve my respect. Nothing makes me more angry. AGGRESSION especially fear aggression can be fixed! That is why animal behaviourist and behaviour modifying medications exist! (You should train and socialise your puppy to start with so we dont run into this situation! Cats - completely different field sorry.) I am not saying all of them will be fixed but do not ask me to euthanase your dog without trying those things (once again rehoming also is an option if they are only aggressive in particular situations). And vets - do not just take owners' words - WE ARE NOT STUPID. We went through years of vet school and learnt how to assess the animal. We know if they are in true need to go across the rainbow. Please educate your client that euthanasia is not the only answer. Please do not pressure your colleague into doing things they do not believe in or feel pressured into doing so if you dont believe it is medically necessary. If I can stand up for it. So can anyone. Trust me. Learn to say NO. This is why we are LOSING our colleagues (on top of other issues in the industry)! No one should to be wronged for standing up for their beliefs. If I feel pressured to do so as a vet who have been practicing for 10 years - imagine how new or recent grads feels (we've all been there). We have enough moral conflict in this work already. Because "if you dont do it they will go somewhere else and do it anyway" or "client is already emotional" is not a good reason. I have drawn my line. I will not compromise my morals. I will not euthanase an animal if their quality of life is not compromised. So that when I say to you "you have not made wrong decision" you know we truely havent. You know we tried our best. I sincerely do love and nothing is more pleasurable than watching your puppies and kittens grow, grow old. They are not only your fur babies - they are my friends too (and you too :)). we have feelings too. I feel loved when they run coming to me wagging tails (or head butting if cats. So no need to apologise if they give me lots of kisses). I will cry with you (Yes i will be honest somedays you do feel desensitised after doing it for so long but trust me it hits me in waves at the end of the day. Compassion fatigue is real.) and do feel heartbroken when we have to let them go but do it so they dont have to suffer and go with dignity - and only reason why we should be euthanasing. Please let me be a trustworthy vet you can always rely on who is always there for you. Please let me keep believing that I am a good vet (at least I try) and feel proud to be one. Please let me be a GOOD PERSON. And to my lovely client who became friends - Thank you for always telling me that I am!! It means whole world to me Photos dedicated to my beloved furry friends Luna Stella Aspen Rella Scouty(...and many more saved on my phone) - I love watching em grow from all the way across the world and miss them dearly! (and thanku for continuing to send me the photos!) Arent they just adorable?!?! #veterinary #dilemma #vetlife #pets n #vet #dogs #cats #animals #fear #aggression #behavior #issue #euthanasia #rehome # #

21.01.2022 These kangaroos are ripped from the wild, stolen from their families and lush home. The most vulnerable of these being babies and injured adults are at risk of being bludgeoned to death so that companies like Nike and Puma can profit.

21.01.2022 Such a good Farm Rescue - Needing some help - Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

20.01.2022 Gumnut is just 10 days old, he is a waste product of the dairy industry. Soon after birth he was put in a pen away from his mother. When our volunteers found hi...m he was laying in his own waste. Once with our carers, he was cleaned and fed and together with another rescued calf, they started their new life. They played together and loved their feeds, but nature isn't always kind, and a few days after arriving Gumnut contracted pneumonia and had to be put on life support. Right now, he is trying very hard not to lose his fight, but we need your help, every day in intensive care is costing lots of money. Can you help with Gumnut's treatment? This little guy is so affectionate and a gentle soul, he deserves a chance!

14.01.2022 Just $3 will make all the difference.

14.01.2022 Please share to get Rafiki home to his owner. Thanks.

13.01.2022 How wonderful is this shop owner.

13.01.2022 Sharing this here to give everyone an update - I know its been a long time between communications but this is how the council and the systems works to draw it out as longs they can in hope you will give up. So very very glad Bandits owners have not. Please click on Bandit's Blog and send them your good wishes - I pray and hope this is over very soon and Bandit is back in a loving caring home where he should have been almost 3 years ago now.

12.01.2022 If you can spare a few dollars to bring Sarge home I am sure Kara and Sarge would be very grateful. Another family having to fight to keep their family together. Councils have a lot to answer for by the way they treat families and their fur pets.

12.01.2022 In the Courier Mail today: (unable to open to read) Will endeavour to get more information or if someone can share here about this story Thanks. DEATH ROW DOG FIGHT GOES TO SUPREME COURT In what is believed to be the first case of its kind, a Queensland mother has gone to the Supreme Court in a bid to overturn a destruction order against her dangerous dog.

10.01.2022 Can anyone help - every $1 makes a different.

10.01.2022 We are in a fight to save our beautiful family dog Sarge from being killed this Friday by Sunshine Coast Regional Council. Sarge has been a part of my family f...or 8 years now and its bee nothing but pure love since I picked him up at 8 weeks old. Sarge had a very normal life interacting with all kinds of dogs at beaches and parks where he had no issues at all. He has lived happily with babies, children, a rabbit, cats, guinea pigs and other dogs. Unfortunately at 6 years old Sarge got declared as dangerous dog in 2016 after an incident occurred where he went to protect one of our other young dogs. This declaration was imposed by Noosa Council with no objection from me as his owner. Unfortunately a small dog passed away at the scene, there were no external injuries and the cause of passing remains unknown. A declared dangerous dog requires to be muzzled when in public. Unfortunately in March of 2018 a person who was not Sarges owner took him for a run on a bike and forgot to muzzle him. They came around a corner where Sarge was startled by a much larger dog. Sarge went in front of the bike causing it to flip which made the person involved drop the lead. Sarge ran at the dog but his lead was grabbed, the dogs made no contact and no injuries were sustained by humans or dogs. Council issued the person involved with a fine around $900, which was undisputed as acknowledgement of their honest mistake. On the 28th of March 2019 our garage door got jammed by a scooter after the children had returned inside at dusk. As they came inside they pushed the button to close the garage door as they had done so many times before. I locked the front screen door and the front door and it was at this point I thought out house was securely shut up. I put my 6 month old baby to bed at 7pm and walked past my daughters room to see Sarge asleep on her bed. It took 40 mins to put my son to bed as he was sick with bronchitis. At 7:40 I heard a scream so I ran to my daughters room and couldnt see Sarge. I went out the front unlocking the front door and security screen door. I found Sarge and a much larger dog engaged in a fight. It was hard to get two large dogs apart so I grabbed the hose which caused them to seperate very quickly. I ran inside to get my phone as the street light out the front was blown and wanted to check if the other dog was ok. I noticed a small cut on her cheek and insisted the owner take her to the vet at my cost. The whole time the male owner was abusing me telling me he would have our dog killed and we would never see it again amongst other stuff, his wife and other neighbours asked him to move on as his behaviour was terrible. I was crying and talking to the female owner and I remember asking a neighbour how has he gotten out, to which she said OMG Kara look at the garage. I looked up to see the garage open about knee high. The owners of the other dog later told me that Sarge was at the garage door when they walked passed. Had the street light not have been out, I would have seen the light under the garage door alerting me to the issue. I told the female owner to take their dog to any vet and let me know where and I will cover the vet bill. They went to a vet at 8pm and had treatment which I paid for no questions asked. The vet bill cost $881.38. The very next morning I had my mother bring me down a brand new self closing, self locking baby gate to put across the door way from the garage to the house to prevent anything like that happening again. I had a padlock and locked our side gate to prevent anyone ever opening that as well. I checked in with the owners several times to make sure they were all ok and make sure their dog was ok. Council came and seized Sarge on the 4th of April 2019 even after seeing the additional measures I had implemented to prevent Sarge from escaping again. Shortly after being seized council issued a destruction order on Sarge and also fined me $3,829.40 for Sarge being able to escape. I have done everything I possibly could do to compensate for the incident and ensure nothing like this can ever happen again. I paid the vet bill, I made changes to my rental property, added extra doors and gates everywhere to prevent Sarge from ever escaping again. Now I have moved shires - back to Noosa, moved house which is on land 32 acres out of town with a dam and plenty of room for private exercise. I have had a 32sq meter 6ft high hardwood enclosure built that meets all the dangerous dog requirements. I contacted Noosa council of my own accord to pre inspect the enclosure and they said its one of the best they have seen in Noosa shire as far as DD enclosures go. I have fought this thru QCAT twice now with the assistance of a lawyer and junior barrister, however sadly we failed even after they acknowledged my actions were of great remorse and sufficient responsibility. I have proactively worked with council to show I have a firmer understanding of the finer rules of owning a DD. I have always paid registration on time and I never had any issues on my yearly inspections for our enclosure. I would like to acknowledge the staff at the pound where Sarge is being kept. They have been so lovely, very kind, very caring and have built a beautiful bond with my boy. He has been well looked after and cared for. I have appreciated my visits but its hurt my 4.5 year old a lot to not be able to hold her dog and interact with him. When you see your dog asleep on a bed and think your house is all locked and secure at 7pm at night, you dont expect or think anything else would happen. We had no reason to believe the garage hadnt shut properly. To make sure I try every avenue to save our boy I have now enlisted further legal help which we need assistance in funding in a bid to save Sarge from being put down this Friday. Sarge is not just a dog, he is our family member and he is loved dearly. We understand the importance of community safety which is why we have moved to a house where he can live and exercise without posing a risk to the community and complied with all rules of owning a dangerous dog. Surely the destruction of this beautiful boy is not the last resort. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. How you Can Help Save Sarge: 1. We must raise $20,000 to save his life with legal fees and what ever else may be needed to make this happen. For anyone who donates receipts can be PM when the time comes for honesty and transparency. 2. PLEASE donate what you can! Every dollar counts 3. PLEASE share this story with anyone and everyone you can! Please help me, please help my family save their brother, please help get my children their dog back. PLEASE SAVE MY SARGEY gf.me/u/yfbdau

08.01.2022 Stop the killing Stop taking love compassion from innocent children.

07.01.2022 TODAY IS THE LAST CHANCE TO SIGN THE PETITION! This is for Lucy, a stray kitten. A woman found her and took her to an animal shelter, assuming that Lucy would b...e rehabilitated and rehomed. When she followed up about Lucys progress six days later, shelter staff said she was not rehomeable and would be euthanised on the eighth day after shed been brought in. The woman was shocked by this news, as staff hadnt mentioned euthanasia as a possible outcome when she signed Lucy over. The shelter told the woman that if she could find an animal rescue group to accept Lucy, they would transfer her into their care. The following day around 1pm, the woman called the shelter to let them know she was actively looking for a rescue group and she was given until 3pm to find one. At 3.12pm, the woman contacted the shelter to advise them she had a rescue group lined up for Lucy. But the next morning, she received a phone call from the rescue group after theyd spoken to the shelter Lucy had been killed the previous day. The woman was devastated, as she had been given less than 24 hours to locate a rescue group and was told that Lucy would be held for eight days. Instead, this poor little kitten was killed on the seventh day after her arrival at the shelter, despite a rescue group being willing and able to look after her. Victorians, please sign the petition to end convenience killing in our pounds and shelters - for little Lucy. Scroll all the way to the bottom where it says "Click here to sign": https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au//view-e-p/details/12/192 Run free, beautiful girl. (Story shared with permission.)

07.01.2022 UPDATE: Winny has been adopted! Unfortunately we aren’t having much luck finding beautiful Winny a loving retirement home. There must be a special person ou...t there who can open their heart and home to Miss Winny and provide her with the ongoing care she deserves. She’s a very easy going and affectionate girl who spends the majority of her days sleeping in her cat bed. The only thing Winny requires is to be fed her special kidney diet which is beneficial to her kidney health. If you’re interested in making a time to meet Winny, or if you’d like to discuss her condition further, please call us on 3264 7700! See more

06.01.2022 Its been an incredible sad week this week after the deaths of our 2 main guardian dogs Leo & Mufasa who were baited on the weekend, they had not long reached m...aturity and kept our entire property dingo and wild dog free which was a massive weight off our shoulders knowing the boys were there . As it takes 2 years to fully train a maremma to do this job- this is a Massive loss to us and our other animals. They were loved by many visitors who were greeted by them on arrival at the farm and will be missed beyond measure. The boys had been with us since both were 3mths old and were a huge part of our day to day life whether it be just greeting us with huge maremma smiles or following us around to see what we were up to or their never ending guardian duties.
