20.01.2022 As the NBN finally rolls into the hills.... are you ready? Unfortunately most houses are not....... the telephone cabling we used for ADSL is NOT structured for NBN and in most cases your provider doesn't care. The work to bring a house up to date (or speed) is not big and mostly just requires the existing wiring to be reconfigured. Just this week we got an extra 10MBPS from the front of the house to the office for a customer....... "Darren and his apprentice Jed replaced our phone cable which was split for multiple phone lines, so that we could get the best result from our NBN connection. We've scored an extra 10mbps thanks to these friendly and helpful guys. Great job boys!" So if you're unsure, need advice or want to maximize you new NBN connection give Darren a call on 0477 904 930 or contact us through Facebook.

11.01.2022 Fire in the Home Part 5 - Downlights If downlights are not correctly installed or maintained they can set fire to insulation, wiring, leaf litter or timber whic...h can burn undetected in the roof space above smoke alarms. Old or poorly installed ceiling downlights are thought to cause at leat one house fire a week in Western Australia. What can you do to prevent a downlight fire in your home? Always use a licensed electrical contractor and ask to see their Electrical Safety Certificate Ask a licensed electrical contractor to inspect all downlights and transformers Ensure a non-combustible or mechanical barrier is installed to prevent insulation or other combustible material covering downlights Always use fittings and guards that meet Australian Standards Following any work in your roof space, request your licensed electrical contractor or insulation installer to inspect all downlights and transformers to ensure they are clear of insulation or other combustible material Consider replacing 240 volt incandescent globes with compact fluorescent globes that produce less heat Consider replacing 12 volt halogen (dichroic) globes with Light Emitting Diodes (LED) that produce considerably less heat To learn more about installation guidelines for downlights https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au//DFES-Home-Fire-Safety-Fact-She and https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au//DFES-Home-Fire-Safety-Fact-She This information is best viewed at https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au//fireinth/pages/downlights.aspx
