24.01.2022 Acting is not just learning your lines and repeating them. To be a good actor you need to be able to look at the words in your script and discover who your character is. What kind of person are they? What are they feeling? What do they look like? Why are they doing this thing? These are just a few of the many questions to be asked when taking on a role. Can you imagine going to a show/movie and just watching someone repeating the words without any emotion or understanding of the character?

24.01.2022 Romana has only been with the school for around 3 years and has blossomed since exploring the naturalistic style of theatre. Romana has been awarded multiple placings in the Launceston Competitions as well as receiving the Rosemary Armitage Award for Excellence in Arts whilst a student at Kings Meadows High School. Romana is now 16 and looking to make acting a career, beginning with her role as a Featured Extra on the Gloaming. ... Maddie loves performance, being involved in up to 2 shows a year for the last 10 years. ... This year she has also become an Assistant Teacher with the school. 15.01.2022 Imogen graduated from the Tasmanian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts in Theatre in 2016. Since then she has continued to develop her acting career with a number of extra and supporting cast roles in film and a number of lead and supporting roles on the stage. More recently Imogen has turned her hand to directing in addition to acting. This move has provided her with a prestigious Nomination for the Tasmanian Theatre Council Awards. She was nominated for her breakthrough directing role on Iron with IO Performance company. Imogen is compelled by thoughtful, nuanced theatre and film in varied aesthetics and she firmly believes in the transformative power of theatre and film as a social, political, emotional, humanistic force. With this belief guiding her Imogen set herself the challenge to write a 2 person play set in a post-apocalyptic world. She cleverly tells the story of Sisters Chloe & June who have been abandoned by their parents to survive inside the family shed. Lotus is this story, exploring how Sisters survive together in small confines. There is laughter but there is also tragedy, grief, animosity and love all wrapped up in teenage angst. 08.01.2022 I hinted at something exciting happening last week. I am excited to announce the introduction of the Just Imagine Special Projects Program. Lotus is the first in this program. Written & Directed by Imogen Kalisch (Tasmanian Theatre Award Nominee, Director - Iron - IO Performance). It tells the story of Sisters Chloe & June who have been abandoned to survive inside the family shed in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event.... Chloe(18) is responsible for looking after her younger sister June(15). Chloe is struggling to see anything good in the future and is reluctant to leave the shed. She prefers to stay where it is safe. June on the other hand is ready to explore the world outside the shed and sees life as something that is to be lived. She finds the good in everything. How will these girls survive being stuck inside a shed when one wants out and the other refuses to leave? This show is suitable for audience members aged 15 and over.
