25.01.2022 A follow up to the article published earlier this month. It illustrates the complexity of planning for the future - for every advantage of a policy option there is usually an offsetting disadvantage somewhere (e.g. the nexus between a change to the superannuation guarantee and its impact on wages received in the hand by workers mentioned here). There are many current issues in our world that worry us, and most are more complex than the headlines that we take in whilst on the run. It's always useful to look a bit deeper before forming a view on them. https://www.abc.net.au//superannuation-scare-camp/10511282

24.01.2022 Some information people should consider before participating in the outrage over the banks' response to the recent RBA official rate cut. The RBA has never set the rates banks charge on their products. RBA's "official rate" is merely the interest rate it gives the banks on a proportion of their funds they are required by law to lodge with it as a financial system safeguard. https://smallcaps.com.au/why-not-all-bank-bashing-is-justi/

24.01.2022 Congratulations Bronwyn on being named one of the Queensland 100 Faces of Small Business. Bronwyn's book is a well written self-help guide, based on lived experience, that is useful for small businesses looking to work with big business.

23.01.2022 Some of the participants at the launch of the Employment and Participation Accord last night at Headricks Lane. Employers and other guests, including Michelle Landry MP, were able to hear good news stories about the changes employment brings to the lives of people living with disabilities and to their workplaces from workers and an employer. They were also provided with information on how employers can access support to employ people living with disabilities. The event was ...the work of a small volunteer Regional Employment and Participation Workgroup assembled by Des Ryan of Community Solutions. Its' goal is to increase the participation of CQ employers in programs and activities that provide employment and workplace placements for people living with disabilities. More good news stories will be shared in the media over the coming weeks. If you would like more information on the support available contact Melissa Crane or Krystal Carpenter at Community Solutions on Ph 49328000. Thanks to Gina Clark, Ed Sutherland, and David French for sharing their stories. Thanks also to sponsors Headricks Lane, Barry O'Rourke MP, and Clr Drew Wickerson of Rockhampton Regional Council.
